Orienteering race 1:08:53 [4] *** 6.85 km (10:03 / km) +230m 8:37 / km
spiked:11/13c shoes: VJ Falcons 3 (yellow)

Red course at WCOC event at Ansonia. Had a good run through #8 then bobbled 9 (30 sec) and went brain dead on the way to 10, losing 6-7 minutes when I lost contact near the end of the leg, relocated about 100m from the control, but then proceeded a couple of hundred meters back to my original route to follow that to the control. Shaky the rest of the way in but hit them all OK. Very nice course set by "the Russians". Temps in the low 70's, so a bit hot when running.

Breaking in a new pair of O-shoes. No significant issues. The pair I'm replacing have over 400 miles of orienteering on them - most of which is in Harriman and New England rocks! And they're still functional with minimal duct tape.

"Sprint" at Ansonia. Actually a short middle since it was all in the woods in some really nice technical terrain. Still brain dead from running the Red course and blew #5 pretty badly. Regrouped after that and jogged the rest of the way working on hitting the controls cleanly.

Trail Run 48:32 [3] 4.02 mi (12:04 / mi) +200m 10:27 / mi
shoes: NB 874

South from Olivia's Overlook. Dropped down first and ran to the cistern then back and up to the ridge via the Charcoal Trail. South on the ridge for about 5 minutes and then back north to the car. One big hill (160m) and some small but steep ones on the ridge and a nice downhill finish. Lots of rocks and roots. Quite warm, in the 80's but low humidity.

Trail Run 41:39 [3] 4.12 mi (10:07 / mi)
shoes: NB 874

At Hand Hollow Conservation Area. Parked at Rt. 9 lot and ran up to the other parking lot and back with some time on the woods roads across the dam of the upper pond. Nice day, ~70F and sunny. No bears today.
