Orienteering race 1:14:40 [4] *** 7.5 km (9:57 / km)
spiked:19/20c shoes: VJ Falcons 2

Red course at HVO local event at Spook Swamp (from Sebago Beach parking lot). Course was two loops. The first loop of 15 controls (also the Green course) had quite a few orange level controls and lots of short legs. The second loop consisted of 5 longer legs. Loop 1 was ~4.2 km, second loop was ~3.1km. Typical Harriman woods: open (especially with no leaves on the trees), rocky, some (well-mapped) mountain laurel and barberry. Very nice running.

Had a fairly clean run. Biggest mistake was navigating to the last control on the second loop rather than the first. The lines leading to them were only different by about 20 degrees. The controls were less than 200 meters apart, so only lost a couple of minutes. Some hesitations on a couple of other controls.

The weather was quite cold, in the 20's with a breeze. Good HTFU training.
