Trail Run race 36:42 intensity: (16:42 @4) + (20:00 @5) 4.7 mi (7:49 / mi)
shoes: NB 874

Fall Back 5 Trail Race at Saratoga Spa State Park. A pretty gentle trail race with lots of variety: some grass, some paved, some gravel, some dirt, some single track, some short but steep hills (up and down), very little mud, a few roots, a log or two and no real rocks. Billed as five miles, but both Janet and my Forerunners measured about 4.7 mi.

Ran a fairly well paced race, which is not typical for me. Started slowly with the intent of enjoying the run rather than worrying about racing and it worked. Ended up 29/105 overall and 2nd in M55-59 (6 in M50 - 59). And really enjoyed the race. Temperatures were a bit cool (upper 30's at the start) but it was mostly sunny.

Afterwards had a nice bowl of soup for lunch in downtown Saratoga Springs.

Orienteering race 55:57 intensity: (25:57 @3) + (30:00 @4) *** 6.1 km (9:10 / km) +210m 7:50 / km

HVO local event at James Baird SP. Nice open woods with good contour detail. Tried to focus on reading the terrain and not using the compass. Was reasonably successful except on two legs which crossed flattish areas and a check or two of the compass would have been helpful. Probably lost 2 or 3 minutes on each leg. Also lost a minute when a contact got brushed out by a branch and I had to put it back in (fortunately it stuck to my face so I was able to find it). Didn't push the pace too much, so half level 3 and half level 4. Very nice weather (especially for November) - low 50's, partly sunny.

Road Run 38:04 [3] 4.51 mi (8:26 / mi)
shoes: NB878 - #8

66N to the gas plant and back. In the dark, and daylight savings time hasn't even ended yet. 37F but dressed right (including hat and gloves) so felt OK.
