Orienteering race 1:16:59 [4] *** 6.4 km (12:02 / km) +210m 10:20 / km
spiked:17/19c shoes: VJ Falcons 2

WCOC event at Hemlock Hills, starting at Ned's Mtn. Road entrance. Very good course on a fine map (in progress) by Rick and Susie Dewitt. Many short technical legs with lots of legs crossing and direction changes plus one looong route choice leg and a couple of medium length legs. Had about 4-5 minutes of errors, 2-3 minutes of which were on the last control - I guess I shut the brain off early. Missed a bit on #12 which was an odd feature, one of a row of depressions in a reentrant/stream bed. Also lost some time on execution and/or non-optimized route choices. Excellent weather - 70's and sunny.

Trail Run (Intervals) 45:47 intensity: (31:47 @3) + (14:00 @5) 4.47 mi (10:15 / mi) +210m 8:56 / mi
shoes: NB 809

Hill intervals at Hand Hollow (East) - 7 x 2 min uphill hard with 1:30 recovery jogging downhill. Up "the hill" to the pond plus a bit of exploring down the woods road heading NE from the pond outlet. Overcast but in the 70's so it was warm. Total distance running hard uphill was 2326m (per the Forerunner) with 210m of climb (from the topo map). ~6min/km at 9% grade.

Road Run 39:15 [3] 4.54 mi (8:39 / mi)
shoes: NB878 - #8

Hilly road run. Syring, Albany Tpke to pipeline crossing and back. Nice day - low 60's, sunny, low humidity and a bit of a breeze. Felt sluggish for the first half (which is predominantly uphill).
