Running 37:00 [3]

First run in Hamilton, went from the hospital to the lake and around the lake... think it must be about 3.5km around, maybe slightly more? Then I tried to go to the supermarket, but ran way too far!

Running 14:00 [4]

After buying a few things, I tried to run back with the shopping, gosh that's hard! It was a proper arm workout :) Very tiring.

Really shocking race. Eww. I couldn't believe when I came back that I had only taken that time, it felt like over 2 hours! The first few were kind of weird, I was ending up away from my planned route, and relocating, but not usually losing too much time... Then came number 6, 6 is always bad luck for me. I navigated to it fine I thought, then looked around, couldn't see it at all... I must have been very close to it :( Then I ran back and forward along the ridge, couldn't work out why it wasn't there, thought somehow I must have made a parallel error, ran back to the previous ridge, no it wasn't there... Eventually I found it almost where I was in the first place. The vegetation was also no help in this area. Anyway, after that I was quite disheartened and my concentration was not good at all for the next few. By about number 15 I felt like I had already run a whole course, I was getting very tired, but somehow coped with the rest. I didn't find them too hard, but was very tired. So glad to finish!

And looking at the results it's very strange, because I had quite ok times for the last controls, even though I was feeling dead and annoyed at myself.

Still very annoyed about number 6 though. Probably about 15-16 minutes of mistakes in total :( :(

Middle distance at Marangai. I couldn't seem to make myself very motivated for this race, I was just jogging along casually and didn't have the will or energy to run faster. Made a couple of mistakes also, coming back to the pivot the first time I was pretty much on top of it and didn't see it so I was confused for a bit... then number 19 I also messed up, I stopped too early and was trying to read the vegetation, bad idea. I have learnt from this weekend that the vegetation cannot be trusted at all...

Ran around course 8 with Leah, she was actually going pretty fast! I didn't have to help much, apart from suggesting she look at her compass when she was about to make a 90 degree mistake... and a few other tips here and there. This can count as a warm down.

Very brief warm up! I wasn't feeling like it at all, was feeling very lethargic after getting up at 5am to drive down to Wanganui... and then we found out that all the start times were later than we thought :S

WOA long distance at Lloyd's Farm. It was ok-ish... I caught up Penny at the third control, she must have made a mistake, which was a bit of a surprise. Then we were together for control 4 and most of the way to 5 (which was a huge, long enormous leg!) except I was very slow getting through a green patch so I fell behind a bit. Such a long leg! Then some controls in the rough green stuff :S I was not too accurate on those, it was very hard to be accurate! You could only see the control when you were on top of it. I made a mistake at 10 also from being on the wrong hill :( The rest weren't too bad, I was just feeling slow and the course felt very long.

I couldn't handle another run around Glendowie, I was feeling a bit uninspired, so I drove down to Mission Bay and ran from there. Started by running up Patteson Ave (steep), then along Kepa Rd, Orakei Rd, Upland Rd, Benson Rd, Lucerne Rd, Remuera Rd, St Johns Rd, Kohi Rd, Selwyn Ave and Nihill Cres. So it was like a big loop with Orakei Basin in the middle. It was an ok run, not great, my legs were feeling heavy and my stomach didn't feel so good for a while, but luckily that went away.

Stuck to the plan and did a loop around Riddell Rd. I was just going nice and slowly and it felt good.
