Worked 8 hrs and served 160 people over lunch so EXHAUSTED and feet hurt so much, so went for a nice cooling swim, felt soooooo much better. Beautiful, shameful how little swimming I've done back home, need to do way more ASAP.

Easy peasy walk with Jenny, we were going to go further but it was misty on the tops and we were both tired so went to the pub instead - but felt like good recovery for the legs from yesterday!

Supporting Dad on his 10in10 Ultra. Leg from Buttermere to Patterdale, and then the last jog down the road from Newlands to the pub.
HARD! Thought it would be easy as he'd be going at such a steady pace, but I took all of the gear/food/water etc and really struggled! Had only got about 4hrs sleep as working last night and couldn't sleep for ages, so maybe that made a difference, but I was sooooo slow and couldn't keep up, especially on the downhills!
Impressive running by Dad though.

HARD! But GREAT - bad weather but really enjoyed running in it, still really warm when running. 4 mins faster than last year! Really pleased with that, and really pleased with how I ran, kept focused all the way, didn't start too fast, kept 'racing' on the downhill and right to the end. Fun.

Most relaxing run EVER round Ennerdale in the beautiful sunshine. Testing out the HR moniter, and stopped and C&E's, and tested out baby food as running snack (tasty, but not many calories).
So peaceful. My favourite valley by far.

Started too fast and felt like a major struggle for the first hour. Wasn't focusing properly and thinking really negatively for some reason. Finally managed to get in the zone halfway through and then really really enjoyed it! Need to do some mental race training I think.
Great ice bath in the pool near Mountain Hut after.

Jog down to meet Aleks (barefoot Aleks, who ran length of Europe) to join him on his SwimRun. Waited for ages (nice and sunny, so it was fine and chatted to a family from Swansea) until I gave up and went back. Turned out he had to change plan. At least it saved my tired legs from going up Grasmoor!

Unbelievably tough.
Didn't go to plan, but considering how I was feeling just very happy to have finished.

Super excited at the start. Set off, loved the first 5 mins, managed to not get too held up in the Bottlenecks, and worked my way up. Once we got to the short bit of road, realised my stomach felt a bit weird but just thought it was the excitement/maybe nerves and thought I just needed to get into a good rhythm once on the fell as I couldn't tell if I was going too fast/too slow etc.
Then in the next few mins, stomach just got worse and worse, and started feeling AWFUL. Stayed feeling pretty awful all the way up Bessyboot and just tried to focus on keeping going up.
Stomach sorted itself out after the first 45mins/1hour, but just felt like I had no energy at all. All of the parts I remember reccying where I thought "I'll be able to run this" I was just walking and felt really drained, as if I'd already ran half the race before starting!
Started feeling a bit better after Esk Haws, but then COMPLETELY died on Gable, and coming downhill I was only slow jogging.

All of this meant as my stomach had felt so bad, I hadn't started eating early enough, also dropped half of my banana in the mud so lost it. I also definitely should have drank more than I planned.
Therefore got to Honister, started running up and my legs just cramped up. Luckily Dave had appeared and gave me water and some bar. Felt much better going up Dale Head in the end and managed to finish OK, but really stupid to not have eaten more - think I thought I just felt bad in general, and therefore not because I hadn't eaten enough, but only realised at Dale Head that I'd only eaten half a banana and a snickers. Amatuer error!

CONCLUSION: Not what I had been aiming for and a shame after focusing on it/looking forward to it so much for the last 4 months, BUT still really pleased to have finished/kept going after how I felt at the start, retrospectively enjoyed it and keen to go back next year!

Intervals but not full pace, just to get the legs ticking over again as feel a bit sluggish after the weekend. Much better now. Right foot has been niggling a bit though since halfway through the holiday so going to take it easy now for sure.
