Running long 1:18:52 [3] 14.74 km (5:21 / km) +100m 5:10 / km

Medium-long run along the canal and back, so peaceful. Legs seize up when just running on flat tarmac, but need to get used to it I guess. Felt very stiff and sore though, not enough stretching this week, need to get back on the Yoga. Enjoyed it though.

Bit of a 'flop' day for me today - not sure where the day went, then I felt exhausted so had a nap to try and recover with the idea of going running after - but just wasn't feeling it, it was already dark and felt like it would have just been junk mileage.
Longer run tomorrow instead.

Good session, same as last week as on the set program now. Legs seem SO SO tired from yesterday though, feel exhausted going up stairs or doing anything! Enjoyed it though.

Tweeked the right hand side of my back putting a weight away - silly! Hopefully it will go away with a nights rest :)

Run up to Bodington, warm up, then a reccy of the 800m lap we were going to be using.

Running intervals (XC training) 15:26 [5] 4.08 km (3:47 / km)

4 x 800m (out and back), with active recovery of 1.5 - 2 mins between each.

Nice long rep esspecially as it was slightly uphill on the way out, so could feel good running back! Was doing them between 3:05 and 3:15, getting a bit slower on the last two. Feeling really tired before the session but felt better at the end suprisingly!

After the 800s did 2 x 400m to finish with a nice bit of speed :) (1:30 then 1:21).

Run home. Really good session, realised I really like long reps (the two shorter ones at the end were grim in comparison)!

Really enjoyed this run for once - nice chat with Beth to distract me from the horrible road! And really nice conversational pace, felt fresh as a daisy afterwards! Twisted my ankle however but just kept running in a hobbly way - hurts now though :/
But will be fine :)

Run with Jack along the Meanwood Valley trail - normal way on the way there, new way on the way back which involved so many hills?! But good run, shins a bit painful though and legs still tired from the week.

Strength and Conditioning (Vinyasa Yoga) 50:00 [1]

Different instructor than I've had before. This was definitely NOT exercise! Some nice stretches, but could have had a better stretching session on my own. Oh well, relaxing.

Ran from Uni down the canal and along and back - although missed the turning off on the way back so ended up going further than I wanted to and had to run back through the city!
SO nice though, never been to the canal before but it's so peaceful and just seems to go on forever! Wouldn't want to be there on my own when getting dark though.

Anyway good run, definitely a new route!

Running race (Withins Skyline fell race) 56:08 [5] 9.95 km (5:38 / km) +200m 5:08 / km

Really tough - rushed so no time to warm up, felt tired and lungs felt horrific. Long slog over a slightly hilly, boggy moor - basically a tough cross country, definitely not a fell race!
However very enjoyable, amazing atmosphere and lots of fun being there with the team :)

Had planned to go on a nice 10km run today but Molly asked if I wanted to go to Body Weight conditioning, which I thought sounded good and not too hard so could do it as an extra. Anyway it wasn't BW conditioning it was Boot Camp, which I really don't like tbh but hey ho, too late by the time I found out!
Almost decided to go for a run as well but thought I'd do it tomorrow instead, instead of cramming it all into one day :)

Strength and Conditioning (Hatha Yoga) 40:00 [2]

Tried Hatha Yoga this time - a lot more slow and focused on the breath.
At the beginning thought it would be a waste of time because we started by just sitting there in silence, then doing this "Ommmmm" thing, but it was actually really good in the end, the instructor was really good/helpful/quietly motivational - just had an edgy beginning!
Legs feeling tired!

Run up to Bodington and warm-up, plus lap of the rep route.

Running intervals (XC training) 12:00 [4] 3.17 km (3:47 / km) +30m 3:37 / km

6 x 2 minute reps around part of the Varsity course. 90s rest jog/walk between each (below).

Went really steady on the first 2 to see how I was feeling, then pushed a bit harder on the others. However didn't go all out as it was the first session back and just want to get consistantly training at this point.
BUT really really enjoyed it, started pouring with rain/thunder/lightning at one point, SO motivational! :)

SO HARD! Every single muscle feels worked and stretched though which is NICE. Fun fun fun.

Running (XC training) 50:55 [2] 7.5 km (6:47 / km) +100m 6:22 / km

Led an off-road run at 6pm as an alternative to the normal XC road run. Was fun but not hugely successful - unable to advertise it to the Orienteers because it clashed with a training session, so it was just on the XC training page. One guy turned up then we managed to get another girl to join us who was just going to wait for the usual run but was early.
Went at a really slow pace as he was tapering for a marathon on Sunday and the girl was new and it was her first run (did v well!).
Horrible weather today making it super super dark, couldn't see a thing coming back so will either take a torch next week/shift it forwards/take a road route back/ditch it! We'll see :)

Ran up and along Meanwood Valley trail until the last road, then came back, carried on down Woodhouse Ridge and took a weird way back, as I had no idea where I was!
Good, but legs still SO dead from Wednesday - hamstrings and glutes, so was difficult to stride out properly. Felt a bit dead at the end, but think I hadn't drank enough so that's maybe why. Nice to get out.
