really short fast ones to speed me up for the weekend (forest of dean)

45s flat out, then 90s rest (walking/jogging) x 8

was going to do 10 but there's the sprints with wcoc tomorrow so didnt want to wreck my legs for the weekend

legs felt good =D

only had time for a short run today because we had to go ad see our aunty in 'my fair lady' - so didnt have much time =(

went at a fastish, steady pace - felt good =D

Orienteering race (wcoc ultrsprints) 13:15 [5] 2.6 km (5:06 / km)

two races round a park: each 1.3km
really easy so just a sprint (but there were no control discriptions so it made it slightly harder =D

Orienteering race (freindship relay) 1:04:00 [4]

was with an italian guy and a belgium flanders guy

good but i seemed to have all the hilly controls and wasn't really going at race pace atall so wasn't very fast

made a few mistakes but mostly ok and it was just a fun race anyway =)

had a disco/rave after so we were dancing for ages which should count as training but im not going to put it in because it would sound stupid lol =D

Orienteering race (middle distance race) 24:45 [5] 2.3 km (10:46 / km) +155m 8:03 / km

really good exept one big mistake

no 7 - lost concentration (maybe because there were so many people around me) and didnt think about my route so ended up in a different bit of open
there were controls everywere so i kept thinking they were mine and losing time going to them all
then thought i wasto far over so went one way and saw the big field and realised were i was - and if i hadn't made this mistake i would've come 2nd!!!

pleased with the rest of the course but really dissapointed because i ran really hard and the mistake meant i came 9th =( =( =(

Orienteering race (long distance race) 39:35 [5] 3.7 km (10:42 / km) +160m 8:48 / km

no 1, 2, 3 good =)

no 4 - went up the wrong hill so climbed all the way up and had to go all the way down again a nd up another one =( (i think there might be something wrong with my compass because i was thinking it could be the wrong one but when i looked at my compass it looked right) :S

no 5 - good

no 6 - bad route choice - should've gone round the hill but went over :S

no 7 - good

no 8 - went to far right so was looking in all the wrong re-entrants so lost time

no 9, 10 and 11 good

some controls spiked really well but the two mistakes lost alot of time - really enjoyed it though

came 7th - dissapointed because wanted to do better =S

Orienteering (WSOC model event) 1:30:00 [3]

just going around the controls at an easy pace - REALLY steep area - like a vertical kind of steep!!! really nice though

but it hailed and was really windy :S fun though!

orange course

really easy so just a sprint!!! hard work!!!

Orienteering race (jk day 3) 49:58 [5] 4.0 km (12:30 / km) +150m 10:31 / km

another bad race but enjoyed parts of it so better than yesterday

no1 - to far down and lost time trying to battle my way out of green stuff
no2,3and4 - good
no5 - tried aiming off but ended up on the wrong side anyway so lost a bit of time being on the wrong crag
no6 - good

no7 - disaster: went along the top of the wrong bit of green and spent ages looking for the control because everything seemed to fit - so tried to relocate off the path and realised were i was because i didnt get to the path - so had to go through loads of green to find the control :S

no8 - another disaster: dont know how i did it because i checked it was right with my compass but i went down the wrong stream and ended up miles away - realised straight away but lost alot of time

no9 - very slow but it was the same for everyone because it was straight through green - quite confusing aswell because there was more open than on the map
no10,11,12 and 13 good

so some parts were good but other parts were really bad

think i might need to slow down on the harder legs to get them right

Orienteering race (jk day 2) 43:31 [5] 3.7 km (11:46 / km) +165m 9:37 / km

Really bad race =( felt like a headless chicken because contol fow was really bad and had to keep stopping to look at the map and work out were i was - just wasnt focused atall =(

no. 1 i wasnt really focused but still got to it ok but not very fast because i wasnt concentrating

then it was good untill no 4 were i went to far around a hill and ended up going through loads of green to no 9 - realised were i was and relocated on the track - lost alot of time standing still trying to figure out were i was though =S think i need to relocate quicker because if i'd just kept going untill i got to the path instead of standing around looking at the map i would've been much faster

5, 6, 7 and 8 were ok but still bad control flow - maybe im trying to run to fast on the legs and need to slow down and plan ahead more

no 9 i dont really know were i went i had a plan but there seemed to be much more green than it looked on the map and i think i was on the wrong knoll which was at the other end of the hill - not really sure how i did it but im sure the map was dodgy

10, 11 good then 12 went through some GIANT brashings that i almost got stuck in then got confused by a fence - there was a bit of fence before the control and after but i thought i was by the bit after so was trying to go into the control form that bit when i was actually at the bit before it - just need to concentrate and focus when something goes wrong

13 - was hidden in a ditch and was still thinking about the last control and couldn't think how to get to it so just ran in the general direction - went to far down then saw people going to it

14 - no idea what happened there was much more open and brashings on the map so got really confused and ended up to far down again

15 and 16 were ok


think i need to: make sure when i make a mistake to relocate straight away and not panic and after i have found the control forget about it and move onto the next leg - also maybe slow down a bit on the leg after to make sure i dont make another mistake =D

came 13th again - 7th out of my year i think so not to bad i theory but still not to pleased

Orienteering race (jk sprint) 19:22 [5] 2.4 km (8:04 / km) +10m 7:54 / km

ok but not great

lost time on:
no.4 went in to the control wrongly and so was in the wrong bit of wood
no.12 went the long way round losing about 20s - just bad route choice
no. 15 went down the wrong side of a fence - it was marked as crossable but was really high so had to go back round - lost maybe 15s?

the rest were ok though so that was good =) came 13th in the end =S

think i need to do more sprints so i get used to them and also focus on going more direct in sprint races to save time instead of going easier long ways

really bad
it was meant to be a tempo run to prepair for jk but just couldn't keep going even at normal running pace - ended up walking some of it even on some bits of flat! think i must still be ill because i felt rubbish =( =(

i think i'll have to give up on the 'fast' training and just try and be completly recovered for the jk and world schools and hope i'm fast enough!

Orienteering race (tour selection race!) 47:58 [5] 3.7 km (12:58 / km) +160m 10:40 / km

TAY
really bad run - made a mistake on almost all of them!
The area was baisicley completly green!!!!! So it was a really slow area

also i found it hard because it was reaaaaaaaaallllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyy technical beacuse there were sooooo many rides and streams and stuff so you had to stop every two seconds to check you werent going up the wrong one!!

so was really hard so i couldnt run as fast and it was also a really rough area anyways!!!

came 8th in the end which wasnt a tooo bad result - 4th out of the bottom year 16s - loads of people made big mistakes though

but now i've made all my mistakes so wont make any at the jk =D

WU: (15mins) jogged to the start - quite quick because i had lost track of time and didnt want to miss it!!! but had time to spare in the end so it was ok =D

WD: walk back from finish (5mins)

Orienteering race (Stirling sprint) 11:38 [5] 1.8 km (6:28 / km)

It was the 'British Age Class Sprint Champs' =D
There were two sprints and this was the first one

Ok run no errors except some of them i got confused because i didnt look at the control descriptions - like when it was under the bridge and you couldnt tell by just looking at the map

felt i could've ran faster but didnt want to wear myself out for sunday

dont like sprints though they kill you!!!

Orienteering race (Stirling sprint2) 13:04 [5] 1.8 km (7:16 / km)

Didnt have a very good run this time - ive only ran on a sprint map once before so it was hard to see ways through buildings and the route choice was hard aswell

i was also tired from the first one and dont think i ran as hard

was good though =D

just jogging because i'm still ill so didn't go far
legs felt a a bit slow and shakey but not tired - also because i have a cough i couldn't breath very well at the start

was good to be out in the sun though =D

PE - basketball
Tournament with the lads!!!! Was really fun! we had a team of girls and then there were 3 other teams of mostly lads
i think we won one, drew one and lost one =D

was funny because miss got annoyed because it was meant to be 'non contact' and it wasn't working =D
