Running 35:00 [1]

Wee gentle run with Tolly, who has also just moved back to Edmonton (we just need J$ and C$ to do the same now). Got some great stories about academic department politics. Incredibly amusing and petty at the same time!

Apartment hunt: still ongoing and still not-fun!

Running 45:00 [2]

Hot run down in Mill Creek, checking out the trails which are pretty darn nice. Need to actually find my trail shoes for some of the slicker single track through here.

Note

Old school great skier Sixten Jernberg of Sweden died.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/4-time-olympi...

He dominated cross-country skiing in the late 50s and 60s. 9 Olympic medals including 4 golds.

Not sure where he'd rank on the list of all-time greats, but it would be up there.

Running 45:00 [1]

Short run after work and after test driving a Nissan Rogue. I've now tried a Hyundai Tuscon and the Nissan. Anyone out there with recommendations for a small SUV or wagon? They don't really make wagons anymore, it's only Canadians that buy them (and mini-vans).

The Canadian WOC team should really get matching shorts. Most high school track teams have that. I bet Trimtex sells them too.

But, COF is doing a bang-up job with their WOC coverage, especially Facebook and Twitter. Come a long way from the old days of reading about it months later in ONA.

Running 45:00 [1]

A wee run in the river valley after watching the public race as part of the World Cup Triathlon in town. The run was sloooooowwwww.

The VIP tent was mega mega impressive. I had way too much sun to take a beer, but the food was excellent. This event is a well oiled machine to say the least.

Too bad about the WC fields though, very small since athletes are resting for the Olympics, but them the breaks.

The public race was lots of fun to watch, although confusing as all hell with so many categories racing at once, no club who was racing what. PL's wife O-Dog sadly had a rough day and lost of her bitter rival Annamay Pierce (who's parents have a wicked Irish accent).

It was really hot. Really hot. But showed off Edmonton very well.

Highlight of the day: Steve Armitage was there! They never show his shoes on TV and that's probably due to the velcro.
