Cross-country skiing 1:45:00 [1]

Pretty chill practice. We did 15 minutes of skiing in the following:

Easy Skiing
Legs Only
Right pole only
Left Poles only
Double pole
Easy skiing

Very nice conditions. Final ski around was with Emma as we chatted about potential Sprint course at Goldbar.

Cross-country skiing 2:30:00 [1]

On snow portion of the Community Coach course. Not really 'training" but enough drills and skiing around to list it. Barely. Well actually some of the tag we played would totally count as intensity.

Really interesting to take the first two levels of the CCC coaching. The whole weekend was focused on kids under 10. Might be worth while having some ARK instructors take it in the future.

Cross-country skiing 1:30:00 [1]

On snow portion of the Intro to Community Coach ski coaching course.

This was lessons to coach the Bunny Rabbits group, pre-Jackrabbits. Very young kids. Lots of goofy fun stuff, but the eye rolling my group would give me if I tried some of this....

Cross-country skiing 1:30:00 [3]

Afternoon on snow portion of the Community Coach classic section.

Was way warmer than Blue Wax, should have re-waxed!

Cross-country skiing (Skating) 1:30:00 [2]

Coaching skate intensity. Jumped into a few of them and then did 30 minutes of skiing at the end.

Soft conditions, but lots of snow in Edmonton. Wish I could ski this weekend but spending the ENTIRE weekend taking a coaching course.

Cross-country skiing (classic) 1:00:00 [2]

Ski practice on a mega cold night at Goldbar. Like really really cold. But, we're lead by a guy from Sudbury so he had no worries about it.

Did mostly drills, legs only and then arms only classic. I need to do lots of legs only classic work.

Wax: I had some Green Extra kicking around. I don't think Swix has made that in years.

Also skied a loop with Ember (Nat Talent Squad). One of us was working very hard trying to keep up on the uphills.

Running 40:00 [2]

So it was a -20 windchill out there and I decided to check out the gym in my apartment. There are now 3 treadmills and a stairmaster I'm not co-ordinated enough to use. So listened to a couple of podcasts and ran for a bit.

Tues will be a chilly day and night.

Running 52:00 [1]

Winter run with Will in some serious snow. Like mega deep snow.

And then the Edmonton AGM. The club has around 380 members. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Does this need updating?

Good chance the club will get new O suits this year.

Cross-country skiing (Dryland) 1:00:00 [4]

So we weren't sure if there was snow left at Goldbar or not, so went with ski striding / bounding and Moose-hoofs (sounds better in Norwegian).

Also, very few athletes came so I got to actually train. Repeats of Esso Hill, what fun.

Lots of conversation on the perfect classic stride.

Cross-country skiing 1:30:00 [1]

Super easy skate ski with the juniors who are recovering from their Lake Louise training camp.

Skied with Ulf for a while as we discussed the difference between Russian, Italian, German and Norwegian ski technique.

Cross-country skiing 2:00:00 [3]

Pretty wicked ski at Lake Louise. Skied up Lake Morraine Rd and back and forth as KRT went up as well (her first time on skiis for about 2 years). Great conditions, not too cold. Worked just hard enough to earn a hot-tub later.

Cross-country skiing (Skating) 45:00 [1]

So I got to Goldbar for practice and there was one car in the lot. Hmm, not a great sign. Many from the team went to Lake Louise early and I guess the rest just took the night off.

So, went for a ski by myself while it was lightly snowing. Did a bunch without poles.

Cross-country skiing 40:00 [3]

Skiing with Hammer at Goldbar. No new snow, but I've certainly skied on worse.

Followed by the Next Act pub with a selection of movers/shakers.

Cross-country skiing 1:30:00 [2]

FIRST SKI OF THE YEAR

Pretty decent conditions actually, the paved bike path through Goldbar was bare, but everywhere else pretty good. On rocks skis.

Had the Y4's doing loops of the Capilano Trails which are deadly boring, but I guess good training.

Sunday Nov 3, 2013 #

Running 55:00 [1]

Run with Will from Capilano area on the very snowy river trails.

Winter has arrived! Skiing this week for sure. Any visitors should bring their ski boots.

Strength Training 30:00 [1]

Some serious core after practice.

Cross-country skiing (skating) 2:00:00 [1]

Coaching Edmonton Nordic, skate roller skiing. Hopefully the last day of roller skiing this winter.

Athletes did a pyramid workout. l decided to sharpen my pole tips before the workout and managed to remove any real sharpness on my left pole. So I couldn't really pull off any intensity.

But, was a great day for a workout.
