Running 40:00 [3]

Last minute went to Dave Mac's Tuesday Night Trail runs from MacKenzie King Ruins with La Femme. 4 loops and I felt like garbage the whole time. Took extra rest but just had nothing, which sucked because it was my kind of loops (hill early then rolling down). I'm sure it was the lack of food today, too much sugar and not enough water.

Discussion question:
How long can I read the most painful thread of "Orienteering without infrastructure" before I snap and post something that will get me into lots of trouble?

I've already written "If I was that person I would take up another sport. Like maybe one done by others in my STATE!" But thought that might be a little harsh.

Coke cans with crayons?!?!?!?! My god. The horror, the horror....

Actually I think I'll tell Gord that he's out to lunch too.

Running 50:00 [1]

Wasn't feeling very well today and passed on the long run in the Gats, which meant I didn't get to the park this weekend. Just a day of running in circles.

But went for a run as the sun was setting along the river. Chilly.

Cycling 40:00 [1]

Maybe the last day of biking to work as it's going to be wet and nasty next week.

NRCan's former Dep Minister was just named to one of Canada's most important diplomatic posts today in San Fran. Very interesting....

Running 45:00 [2]

Was going to Chelsea after work but stuck around town and went for a jaunt along the river. It's chilly out there.

Waiting for friends from Montreal to show up....

Cycling 30:00 [1]

Biking too and from work. Actually was smart enough to bring my new front light to install.

Running 30:00 [1]

Quick run after work along the river. I need at least one or two more pairs of trail shoes, might try Brooks and Inov8 this time round.

Cycling 45:00 [1]

Biking to and from work and Carleton. Saw the the Russian Amb to Canada speak. He's a very smart diplomat.

Legs feeling better.

Post Manx ride home featured serious freezing rain.

Note

I suppose the weather was nice enough that I technically could have biked to work, but my legs said no dice. I also had to start the day off with getting a crown removed at the dentist (who used a massive amount of freezing). That was followed by getting a flu shot in the afternoon, so I was toast at the end of work.

I guess I only really started training when I moved to Ottawa in August, so I'm pretty pleased with the race considering that really wasn't that long ago and my training is still very sporadic.

Orienteering Race race 4:42:13 [4] 30.0 km (9:24 / km)

Raid the Hammer; don't know the exact time but it was longer than this.

Legs are toast; especially my feet (no dress shoes Monday).

Great racing with Tiny and Audrey. Great day in the woods.

First Place Coed. First time winning a category.

Saturday Nov 13, 2010 #

Running 38:00 [1]

Cruise in the trails with Patrick and Super. Saw a very tough looking deer who wasn't very impressed with us.

Friday Nov 12, 2010 #

Running 50:00 [2]

Westdale Ravine Trails with Turbo and then 2 loops of the park. Turbo evidently always runs hard.

Wednesday Nov 10, 2010 #

Running 40:00 [1]

Morning run with KillerK along the river, her bread and butter run. Was very early, but the sun came out and it was lovely.

Tuesday Nov 9, 2010 #

Cycling 30:00 [1]

To and from work and Carleton (a little longer than this). Bike was making some scary noises in the morning but seemed to have fixed itself later in the day. Long live the Empire.
6 PM

Running 1:20:00 [4]

Chelsea Trail running group. Dave Mac's Canyon trails which was 5 x various hills. Includes warm up and hammer fest cool down.

Number 1 felt very easy (from nordic Chalet to Ridge near racing trails)
Number 2 fine (Chalet to Ridge by Chicken Run)
Number 3 was long and very painful (all the way up the CBC road)
Number 4 decent, basically up the Fortune Hill and onto the single track stuff, should have gone harder in the woods)
Number 5 I tried to stick with Dave and James but ran out of gas at the end when it went vertical at the top of the ski hill. Passed by a dude so was 4th, but ahead of the Hulk.

Felt really good today except on Hill 3.

Cycling 30:00 [3]

Probably closer to an hour of cycling to and from work with some other stops.
Not a fun day.

Sunday Nov 7, 2010 #

Running 1:15:00 [1]

Run with Phil V (aka CheeseSteak) from P7 up in the Gats. Pretty wet in spots, probably should stick to Ridge for more of it.

Lots of chatting about the fun of sports retail. I'm looking forward to getting lots of gear the winter.

Stopped for coffee at Alison and Michael's place and stepped on a scale for the first time since Edmonton. Down to 161 lbs. Good start but more work to be done.

Saturday Nov 6, 2010 #

Running 45:00 [2]

Quick run along the river after a busy day and before the food and wine show. That was a total gong-show of standing in line for hours....

Tuesday Nov 2, 2010 #

Running warm up/down 40:00 [1]

My Polar has been sent off to be fixed, so I'm just guestimating the time. Chelsea Tuesday Night Trail running group. Combined warm-up and cool down.

Running intervals 27:00 [4]

I'm going with just over 8 x 3.30 or something like that. Repeats of a loop that Dave Mac said was 800m. Really fun loop, in and around the start of Ridge 1 (Trail 1). First third flat, then climbing then down for the last.

Legs felt pretty good actually.

Running 45:00 [2]

A Super run along the river. Rest of the night will be spent between watching the World Series and then Sheezer, the world's first (hopefully only) all female Weezer cover band.

They will for sure play this (without dogs sadly):

And the only song off their second record I like:

For those of you into Muppets. My favourite didn't make the video (Sam the Eagle):

Remember the wise words of River: I'll bring home the turkey if you bring home the bacon.
