Orienteering Race 1:01:51 [4] *** 4.8 km (12:53 / km)
24c

O Week Middle, M40

Ran on the terrain and map of the Middle from yesterday. Very sloppy and a bit slow, especially out of gas at the end.

First 4 controls were about course 3 level, but super hesitant and tentative and lost mega time on number 3 not being focused. Then got into a bit of a flow for the middle section, but still sloppy here and there. After seeing some guys run by me got in a pack with 2-3 guys. One of them had matching Scandi kit and socks so he must be good! I lead the pack to control 17, one of the hardest from the Middle yesterday, so happy with that.

But, then the contours hit near the end with a crazy climb. Just as about to attack the last controls, got stung by a bee which really hurt! Totally toast for the finish run in.

Tough terrain.

The winner was a guy from FK Göteborg in 36 which is really fast!

Orienteering Training 45:00 [2]

Orienteering on the Relay/Long Model map. I liked the look of some of the woods, but sure didn't enjoy Orienteering in them! Never connected to much of the map, was very hesitant to go very quick at all.

Running 45:00 [3]

Middle WOC Training

Guessing at the time as my sports watch battery decided this should be the week it died.

Not exactly pleasant woods, I called them scruffy, Raphael said dirty, Will said just like the Edmonton river valley. Just okay.

Fun to be in the woods with fast people.

Running 35:00 [1]

I finally got my gear, arrived this morning from Berlin. God knows if/when it made it to Berlin, would not have surprised me if it was in Berlin the whole time.
Ran around the river valley in Sigulda where we are staying. Up and down the valley mostly, woods do not look pleasant. Will be good to get into the woods with the team training tomorrow.

Fun watching the Sprint Relay on TV here today, but sucks Canada not having a team.

Earlier in the day we saw US Team members doing the Indoor O event:
Anton, Greg, Tori. None of those 3 and AliC raced the Sprint Relay. Which is curious.

In Latvia for WOC. Hopefully will run when gear arrives. If that.
