Orienteering 1:55:00 [3] 9.0 km (12:47 / km)

Second day of our training. Aislinn off to the Grand Prix so only 2 left. Did a warm up exercise at Mt Beckworth. Warm UP was the word of the day as it went up and stopped. Then had 2 downhill sprint type exercises with a walk back up in between. All stuffed.

Orienteering 2:12:00 [3] 14.0 km (9:26 / km)

Organised a training weekend for National Juniors and had 2 take up the opportunity along with Aislinn. Spent the day putting out and collecting controls.

Started with a Map memory at Creswick diggings. Bit of map at each control to plan the leg with and simplify. They had a taped up map as a security blanket if it went wrong. All went for the blanket.

Had 2 control picking exercises. One at Eatons dam and the other at Petticoat.

All seemed to go well.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3] 8.0 km (8:45 / km)

Orienteering near Eatons Dam. Really struggled to put out tapes for Judy. Did put one in the wrong place. Was very wet, tired and slow today. Map in some places in this area is quite odd. A good remap of this area would make it a great area. As it is at the moment it is just not quite accurate enough.

Running 52:00 [3] 8.5 km (6:07 / km)

Back out to Cotty Creek. Had three reasons for going back. One was to check to see if the pink tapes on the novice course had been collected. They had not. Two was to check for some lost property at the request of a frustrated family man. No names but I did find a pair of lonely runners looking lost just near the assembly area. A certain person with a name referring to 3 and a place for animal habitation will remain nameless. Three was to go for a run. Ran around the track I have known as the Great dividing Range Trail but I see by the new signs it has been called the Goldfields Trail. Ran along beside the gully in the pines section of the map. Surprised to find logging has started in earnest and I think the pine forest will be gone in about 2 weeks. Lucky we had the event on Sunday.

Orienteering 55:00 [3] 7.0 km (7:51 / km)

Orienteering with Judy at Springdallah I hung tapes and Judy collected.

Really enjoyed this and the lack of March Flies made for a nice change.
