Orienteering 2:24:00 [3] 14.5 km (9:56 / km)

Ran the 3Hr at Lal Lal. Was only go out for 1 and a half hrs but committed to a loop and then had to keep going. Got very tired for the last half hr and was pleased to find Judy out there confused. Helped her find her last and then walked in with her. This was actually more enjoyable than I expected. Great to be out in the forest with no pressure or expectations. Did way better then I thought possible.
Am very surprised than none of our top men orienteers took part. Seems a great way to do your long run with a map in your hand trying to make smart choices at the same time. Far better than a run on streets and paths and far better preparation for orienteering under pressure.

Orienteering 37:00 [3] 5.9 km (6:16 / km)

SIS. Did 10 min w/u, about 2k and then did the course. Better than last week. Felt ok and made no errors. Still slow obviously but could be light at the end of the tunnel. Lot of left or right route choices. One tricky section where they taped of some sections and we had to think and be smarter.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [3] 7.5 km (10:00 / km)

10 AM

Orienteering 35:00 [3] 3.5 km (10:00 / km)

Set courses for Judy Aislinn and Kyhil on Chinamans Flat in the technichal bit. I hung tapes on the 3k course for Judy and then headed of on my MTB to do the MTBO starting at Linton PS.
11 AM

Mountain Bike 2:07:00 [3] 30.8 km (4:07 / km)

Rode 6km in 30min from training with Aislinn and Judy to the MTB event at Linton Primary School. Then did course 3 of the MTBO event. 2nd ever MTBO event and it only confirms my lack f interest in this type of O. Would much rather ride on a custom MTB track that plod up and down big hills with little interest. At least it got me out. Thought I had entered a 15k course but it turned out to be the 23k one. Did not try very hard. Was only hard when I had to plod up a steep hill. Made 3 mistakes. First one was right out of the start. Was looking for an intersection to turn left but rode back and forward confused. Turns out it was the rail tail and the road I was looking for was above my head on the bridge. Later I rode on a maped track but it petered out and I was then very confused. I think I would rather drive somewhere to ride some great MTB trails

Orienteering 36:00 [3] 5.5 km (6:33 / km)

SIS way down south in Melbourne. 10 min w/u but it didn't help.
Was slow both with running speed and decision making. Lot of running in open spaces so was flogged well and truly by the fitter faster people.

Running 30:00 [3] 4.7 km (6:23 / km)

Cut the run short tonight. Tired and slow. Even the dog struggled.

Running 47:00 [3] 7.3 km (6:26 / km)

Running loop from home. GPS trace looks like the grim reaper. Very sluggish tonight so just a bit slow.

Mountain Bike 1:02:00 [3] 13.5 km (4:36 / km)

MTB ride from home. Started badly. Couldn't get my foot to clip in. After many tries took my shoe off to see so I could line it up corectly. Turned out I had one MTB shoe and one Road bike shoe. What a dick.
Eventually got going and rode out to our new custom built MTB track. Rode it until the builder of said track had run out of steam then turned and rode back to the start. Much more tired going back. Fell off twice.
So slow it is embarrassing. Seem to remember jogging 12k in 60 minutes.

Orienteering 1:07:00 [3] 7.5 km (8:56 / km)

With Judy and Ted near home. I hung tapes, had a chat with some prospectors and then ran around a new MTB track that is in the process of being constructed. Its about 4k so far and is a little longer every time I go out.

Orienteering 29:00 [3] 3.9 km (7:26 / km)

Sprint into Spring at Caufield Grammar. Stuffed up 1 as idid not look at thhe circle properly. Ran OK for the rest except 13. Got into the circle, couldnt get out. Slow and tired for most of it. Bit of a blob.

Orienteering 34:40 [3] 4.2 km (8:15 / km)

SA Middle Champs. Very apprehensive about this as I was so tired yesterday and had such an awful time physically. Worried it would be another slog. Turned out I was moving surprisingly well. Had Grant starting 2 min after me so kept looking over my shoulder. Loved the map and the course and was doing well according to the splits. Got cocky I think and lost touch so made a 4 min mistake on 9. It was frustrating but I had enjoyed it so much and been competitive for most of it I did not feel so disappointment.

Orienteering 59:30 [3] 6.9 km (8:37 / km)

Australian Long Distance Champs. What a disappointment this was. Was feeling tired but had had a rest day so went in with some hope of a place. Felt awful right from the start. Was caught 2 min at the 2nd control and had run all the way with no mistakes. The hill going to 6 was the end of me. To top it off the course was moderate at best with a route choice on only 1 of the 11 legs. Maybe a fun area for a relay but definitely not a national championships.

Orienteering 52:32 [3] 6.0 km (8:45 / km)

Schools Relay day and mass start for public race. Was sort of fun but my fitness is not up to this format and with 5 easy controls fist up I was dropped off very early in the course. Smashed my compass at 5 and with at least 5 bingoish controls to come I was really in trouble. Missed no 11 completely in the low vis pine forest. Just pleased I found them all and finished.

Orienteering 1:00:51 [3] 6.9 km (8:49 / km)

Schools Long Champs day and I did course 2. Very quickly realised I was very tired and struggled to run most of it. No mistakes but for me a real slog. Only moment of joy from this was my route choice to go around the hill and managed to catch and pass the group who had gone over the top.
