Orienteering 3:00:00 [3] 21.0 km (8:34 / km)

putting out and collecting controls for event at Surface Hill. 14k placing and collecting controls but did not have my gps on for placing and collecting controls on the novice course. As always leaving easy course till last so rushing. This involved another 6k.
All up this event takes up about 2.5 days. Really not worth it for 14 competitors. Should just hang tapes and give people the opportunity of just doing and enjoying the course with no SI. I am exhausted and will not do it again for a long time.

With Judy at Calembeen Park in Creswick. Hung tapes for a simple course for Her and her Mate. Lovely Spot today. Almost hot.

Swimming 48:00 [3] 2.0 km (24:00 / km)

swimming at FU again tonight. Always go at about 5:00. When the learn to swim kids finished I had the whole pool to myself. Did 10*50. Tried to keep in on 1:00 but had to go out to 1:05 after 5. Funny how 5sec more rest enables you to swim faster with ease.

Orienteering 1:07:00 [3] 7.6 km (8:49 / km)

Bendigo event on 4 different maps with a drive between. Great idea and challenging event by Neil. Did enjoy most of it but was very tired by the end and struggling. Ankles sore and made worse by the 2nd map. Rocky and lots of green. Only real mistakes I made were finding the controls which had to be locked to a tree which meant at times they were hard to get to. Thanks Neil, I know it stresses you but was very much appreciated.

Bendigo Sat event at Birds Reef. Mostly flattish mining terrain but seemed to get quite tired jumping in and out of the mining. Was navigating ok but got a bit hesitant and slow when Neil caught me. Slowed down and then got going again. Made up good time in the last 1/2.

Monmouth mine Rd with Judy and Ted. Hung tapes then explored the uncontrolled burn off area from a few months ago

With Judy and Ted on section of Kurucaruc map. Dont think this section is actually on the original map. As our British boys said when they ran here."what a glorious area". Hung tapes for Judy and then just ran around looking.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 6.3 km (9:31 / km)

Bendigo event at Sedgwick. Did course 2 as a coaching exercise with Wendy and Sophie Tavener. Added in controls on the course and did 1/2 as a map memory. The last half as a relocation drill with some compassing as well. The course results stated I took 1:20 but gps tells me I was moving for 59:50

With Judy and Ted on Kurucaruc again. Actually the start point was about 3 k from home. Hung tapes for Judy, ran back to her at ctr 3 of 8 then went off on my own and ran some muddy tracks with Ted. Car said it was 3 deg in the forest. Been home 1/2 an hr and hands are still cold.

With Judy and Ted not far from home in the Enfield forest. On 1 small shower but it seemed icy to me. Very tired so run was not much more than a shuffle.

Orienteering 1:21:00 [3] 9.5 km (8:32 / km)

Bendigo today at Crusoe South. Did course 1 and was struggling physically right from the start. Made my biggest error for 3 years. 10 min to do a 2 min leg. Struggled with 1:15000 scale with very poor distance judgement. Have forgotten how to cope with this scale. Was dizzy and a little delirious in the last few K. Was not going to be competing on any course so chose 1 to work on fitness. Not quite fit enough for this

2 more km in FU pool. Only 3 people in the pool tonight. School Hols means no kiddy groups.
Did 3 by 500 with 2min rest then a flat out 100. Did 1:41 so getting a bit better
I suppose.

Mountain Bike 1:07:00 [3] 17.0 km (3:56 / km)

On the MTB again around the tracks from Home. Nice flat riding mostly. Very cold and tracks had lots of big puddles. I think I get the distance weaving around them.
