Orienteering 1:55:00 [3] 14.0 km (8:13 / km)

Map memory exercise with Aislinn. Played map memory Golf. I was down 7 to 2 at one stage but a long leg for Aislinn got it back to 7 to 5.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [4] 9.0 km (7:47 / km)

7k of this was the Bendigo event at Sedgwick. Enjoyed this a lot. Got better as I went on and made better by Nigels good course.

Orienteering 55:00 [3] 6.0 km (9:10 / km)

Orienteering with Judy. What a great day to be out in the forest. Dont think it is going to last though.

Mountain Bike 1:15:00 [3] 22.0 km (3:25 / km)

Thought MTB would be easier than road bike. Definitely not but more fun and interesting. Dog misses out though. He is getting fat.

Orienteering 1:40:00 [4] 12.0 km (8:20 / km)

Hanging tags in the forest for Aislinn and Judy. Really tired after about 50 min. Totally roo ted now.

Mountain Bike 40:00 [4] 10.0 km (4:00 / km)

Ride with group at Sheppards flat. Did not get far but I am exhausted.

Orienteering race 1:00:00 [4] 7.0 km (8:34 / km)

Bendigo event at Chewton diggings. The steep end with mostly pine forest controls. Very easy course navigationally. So many track choices I was actually deciding to navigat through the forest just for something different. Not much more thana long moderate course.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [3] 10.0 km (7:30 / km)

Set a course on Petticoat for Aislinn and a girl (Hilda) visiting from Queensland. 28 controls in 8 km. I put out tags but I made them give me a big start. As it was Aislinn must have been close to catching me. Unfortunately Hilda bashed her leg at 9, cut her knee and limped back to the car.
Aislinn has contacted a few people on Facebook about Hilda. She is travelling up the East Coast and is looking for some help with training. If you can help she would be much appreciative.

Orienteering race 1:06:00 [4] 8.5 km (7:46 / km)

Bendigo event, course 1. Was unwilling from the start and it only seemed to get worse as I went on. Made 2 very silly errors as I could not seem to concentrate and if there was a navigational trap I fell right into it.
Staggered to the finish eventually.

Orienteering 55:00 [3] 5.0 km (11:00 / km)

Put out tags in the forest for Judy. Felt horrible and ended up walking a lot. Could not muster up the energy to do anything well. Did not even seem to be able to read the map.

Orienteering race 34:00 [5] 5.0 km (6:48 / km)

This was more like it. Except for the last loop after the spectator control this was excellent course setting. Technically challenging and offered many route choices. Enjoyed this immensely. I know it is a bit perverse but I enjoyed watching the challengers fall away around me. It is usually the other way around.
The only one not put off was Selina Metherall which meant I chased her as hard as I could around the paddocks in the last loop. As a result I was completely spent, and even today(mon) I am still muscle sore and bruised.

Except for the Sprint and the Oceania long this is the most successful Carnival I have ever had. Still no wins but very competitive and very few mistakes. Lets hope this continues. But realistically, this is Orienteering so it could go either way.

Orienteering race 1:10:00 [4] 10.0 km (7:00 / km)

6 km course on Badga. A great area but for me a disappointing course. Only had a couple of wobbles that may have cost a few minutes because of hesitations but that is normal for me. Was cautious early because of the reputation of the area but when I got going, gave it everything. Hit every control bar one well.
Dont think I could have tried harder but was still 7 min behind the winner and among a group separated by about 1 min.
Course for me was too easy in the end and suited the fitter runners. Most legs similar lengths and in open running areas. Technical is my strength as I seem to rely on others going wrong. Oh well!! Will just have to get fitter but I am far too lazy.

10 to 15 min w/u.

Orienteering race 16:00 [5] 2.0 km (8:00 / km)

Sprint race in the forest at Badga. What a fantastic event. Did everything wrong most of the time and ended up frustrated but this type of event and course setting makes the sport fun and worthwhile. Great course by Geoff in a really great area for this type of thing. More of this please.

Orienteering race 50:00 [3] 5.0 km (10:00 / km)

37 min, 3rd to Geoff and Ted. Middle champs at Yakandanda. Slow to one as I think I had listened too much to the hype and was worried about mistakes. Settled down and except for a 2 min error on one control where I was to low I ran very well. Very physical climbing in and out of gullies but the terrian did not seem to offer many more challenges than Creswick

10 min warm up

Orienteering race 1:10:00 [5] 7.0 km (10:00 / km)

56 min for the Oceania Long. 3rd to Paul and then Geoff. Ran well with no big mistakes. minute or so on one control and some hesitations but that is very good for me.

15 minute warm up and warm down
