Orienteering race 58:00 [5] *** 9.0 km (6:27 / km)
ahr:150

Bendigo event at Wildflower drive. Did not enjoy this at all today. Had problems at the first control. Just after the 8th I really started to struggle and wanted to walk all the time. Took every thing I had to start running after punching the controls. Mostly flat terrain, but still I walked. Watched the news and they reported that it was 33 in Bendigo today. Seemed even hotter to me. Bring back the winter and the footy season.

Running 48:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:20 / km)

More exploration of tracks in the state forest. Getting hotter and harder to train.

Running 31:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:10 / km)

Easy run with Conan along Yarrawee River. I love that they call this a River.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)

Ran on some new tracks or should I say unexplored tracks in the State Forest Rd area. Seemed slow today. This is backed up by the shortish distance covered in an Hour.

Running 1:34:00 [3] 17.0 km (5:32 / km)

Long run with Kido. Began on the old Stafordshire reef map then south east onto Misery Creek Track and then north onto Little Hard hills and eventually back onto Staforshire Reef.

Great running but really tough on the walking track that Kido calls Misery Track.

Starting to feel much better during these runs than a few weeks ago.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] **** 9.0 km (6:40 / km)
ahr:154

Hard slog but great fun today. 3 lots of mass start races over about 2 km each. Race one tried to keep up with Matt and Rooey but couldn't. Race 2 missed th A group and then had to contend with pressure from Neil. Nearly succumbed. Race 3 in the B final with Matt and Rooey again. Stuffed this up and we were caught by the C final who started 30 sec behind. Then it became really stressful. Even though they hurt a lot I love these type of races. Lots of contact, lots of pressure. More should do it.

Thanks for all the work Jim. Much appreciated.

Orienteering 1:08:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:40 / km)
ahr:147

Run from Corio Dam near Stafforshire Reef. Great weather. I think this is the first time I have run out there without getting wet. Frogs in the dam where very noisy. Havn't heard frogs for a few years. Maybe this is a sign. Of what I don't know.

Running 58:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:27 / km)
ahr:142

Easy run around Monkey Gully. Found a lot more mining in the area. Has possibility to be a very good map.

Running 1:32:00 [4] 17.0 km (5:25 / km)
ahr:150

Long run with Kido on the Great dividing range trail. Coped with this much better than last week.

Orienteering race 53:00 [5] 7.0 km (7:34 / km)
ahr:160

Orienteering at Sedgwick near Bendigo. Not a very interesting course on steep terrain. Some long legs set to give route choice but there was no choices other than straight as far as I could see. Some discussion about the long leg suggested following the tops of hills to the saddle but if you count contours it is slightly more climb than straight(see routegadget on Bendigo web page). Runability was about the same. Little thought needed on this course. I am just not fit enough.

Running 1:35:00 [4] 18.0 km (5:17 / km)

Long run with Kido from Enfield down to the Misery Track Picnic area and back. Down hill all the way (except for lots of nasty steep up and down creek crossings) and then up hill all the way back. I was apprehensive at the start of this and as it turned out justifiably so. Heart rate started at 140 slowly crept up to 150+ and then at the turn it continued to rise until it hit 170. At that point I stopped and walked. Got a long way to go to get back to a reasonable level. Do I want to??

Orienteering 1:01:00 [4] 9.0 km (6:47 / km)

To Bendigo with Judy. Participated in the Mars Bar Challenge. Came back with enough stickers to earn a Mars Bar as well as an alien and a jumbuck so earned another mars bar. Problem is they may never get eaten in this household. Orienteered like shit. Could not concentrate. No big mistakes just careless to the controls and kept missing them.

Running 48:00 [2] 9.0 km (5:20 / km)

Back into it after the Ausy Champs. Still not very motivated but asked to join a running partner so did an easy 48min around the Great Water Race section of the State Forest rd map.
