Orienteering 1:35:00 [3] 15.0 km (6:20 / km)

Long run i the Linton Forest. Have felt awful all week but was surprised with how well I coped with this. Left for dead by Kido on all the hills and tracks.

Monday Feb 23, 2009 #

Orienteering 47:00 [3] 8.5 km (5:32 / km)

Checking controls for the Australian Masters games at Mt Doran. Let Kido do all the nav. She was very good at noting that a control was misnamed, placed correctly or if changes needed to be made.

Interesting looking at the mistakes made by inexperienced course setters with a vague knowledge of the rules.

Orienteering 1:17:00 [3] 12.0 km (6:25 / km)

Did course A of the Bendigo Event. Jim set a great Hageby event with 2 maps and some very clever splitting. Unfortunately I ran so poorly and felt so slow that I hardly ever saw a soul and had little enjoyment from any match racing with someone about my pace.
The only positive was that I navigated well and made no mistakes. Some small hesitations.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Training exercise set by Bruce at Glenluce. Very interesting and tricky section of spur gully. Spent a lot of time helping others learn the art of orienteering.

Orienteering race 22:00 [3] 3.2 km (6:52 / km)

Sprint O at the Castlemaine Gardens. Did not do very well. Felt poorly and lost concentration towards the end

Friday Feb 20, 2009 #

Swimming 1:00:00 [3] 2.0 km (30:00 / km)

Swam 2 km at YMCA as Ballarat High was having a swim carnival at our favorite pool. Did OK at this. Obviously getting better as I managed to do a set of 50 f.s on 1 min.

Running hills 1:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)
ahr:147

Ran hill intervals on a track at Springdallad with Kido.
Felt much better today and manage to do the intervals at a slightly reduced pace. Still felt hard enough.
11 hills of varying length and steepness. Great way to do hills.

Tuesday Feb 17, 2009 #

Running intervals 1:06:00 [3] 11.0 km (6:00 / km)
ahr:150

Started to do 5 x 500 on 500 of with Kido.

Felt awful and when my heart rate hit max in the middle of the 3rd one and I was getting slower I decided things were not right. So like a true trooper I gave up and just jogged the rest of the session.

Monday Feb 16, 2009 #

Cycling 35:00 [3]

Windtrainer cadence set with Kido.

Running 45:00 [3] 9.5 km (4:44 / km)
ahr:141

Nice easy 45 min jog home from dropping the car off to get radio fixed. What a waste. They couldn't fix it.

Thursday Feb 12, 2009 #

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3] 12.0 km (6:40 / km)
ahr:137

Put out flags on Mt Beckworth for Kido to do up hill control picking exercises.

Followed her up on the last set of 12 controls picking the flags up. Couldn't keep up.

Wednesday Feb 11, 2009 #

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Did a session on the wind trainer with Kido.

W/U drills followed by 5 x (4 min at 4 gears down - 2 easy). Then some spinning drills as a w/d

Tuesday Feb 10, 2009 #

Running intervals 1:06:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:30 / km)
ahr:146

15 min w/u

4 x 500 on 500 of with Kido. She did 5 but I sooked the 3rd one. All around 2:00 min. Maybe one day I will be able to run 1:30's. Doubt it somehow.

25 min w/d

Much cooler today.

Sunday Feb 8, 2009 #

Running 57:00 [3] 12.0 km (4:45 / km)
ahr:146

Run with Kido on the Misery Track from a picnic area in the Little Hard Hills Forest.

Ran well and really enjoyed the cooler conditions. Found the uphills difficult as the long run yesterday took its toll on the thighs.

Saturday Feb 7, 2009 #

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3] *** 12.0 km (7:30 / km)
ahr:145

Relocation exercise in the forest with Aislinn. Started early to try to avoid some of the heat. The first 45 min was ok but the heart rate started to steadily climb and the speed started to steadily decline after that.

Friday Feb 6, 2009 #

Swimming 1:15:00 [3] 2.2 km (34:05 / km)

Back in the pool again. I did 2k whilst Aislinn did 4. OMS not working here.

Thursday Feb 5, 2009 #

Running hills 1:00:00 [4] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)
ahr:145

Very Hilly run on a track circuit around the old Springdallah Map. Much better today than I thought it would be. Hills hurt but recovered well even though the temp was about 32

Wednesday Feb 4, 2009 #

Cycling 54:00 [3] 25.0 km (2:10 / km)

Rode to and from swim coaching again. Much better attempt at riding up Tip Hill than on Monday. Could be something to do with pumping up tyres.

Running 32:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:20 / km)
ahr:143

Nice easy run around the block in the cool of the evening.

Tuesday Feb 3, 2009 #

Running intervals 55:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:30 / km)
ahr:146

Intervals with Kido

500 - 1000 - 500. 500 rec b/n

Intervals were slow. Felt very tired from hard ride yesterday. Temp. was 29 but humidity quite high. Made for an unpleasant experience with a high average heart rate.

Hope things improve

Monday Feb 2, 2009 #

Swimming 45:00 [3] 1.6 km (28:07 / km)

In the pool for the second time this year. Have a long way to go to get back to the Triathlon swimming days.

Cycling 45:00 [3] 20.0 km (2:15 / km)

Rode to and from swim coaching at the uni pool. Forgot how hard Tip Hill was. Must be 8 or more years since I rode up it
