NAOC Long; Great first half. Happy with my ability to go fairly straight and fast, not usually my strength. Very disappointed in my last bit where I just didn't orienteer.

Also got very thrown off by a fellow elite orienteerer just blatantly cheating and asking people which control they were going for.

Went to the spectator race. Like a longish middle/classic. Super nice/fun/open easy to run. Just took it slow though. Feeling quite tired.

Strava Segment sniping with Raphael. 200m uphill sprint. Got fifth place on the leaderboard by 1 second!! (The top three results are faked though). That settles that week long discussion.

WOC Relay third leg. Not my cleanest effort and slow, not feeling good still but better than yesterday at least. Would have been nice to have a sturdier race but didn't lose us any places at least.

Also won the finish chute leg over all runners, just for giggles.

Forest training on terrain relevant for the middle with Nev and Will.
Quite enjoyable actually. The green makes it harder to navigate but there's some nice running out there and it's still not west coast white.

Unofficial Indoor O World Champs in the Latvian National Library. 2 runs - shouldn't have done both after how long the first one was. Turned out to be a serious workout. Distance is approximate cause it only does it off my step length when inside.

A bit of poor course planning though as I don't think a single person was expecting two 45-60 minute courses. Also they both started with really hard legs (like you need to go up and back down 13 floors to get to your control) which put off a lot of people.

Really nice view from the 12th floor though, a 360 view of Riga basically.

WOC Sprint.
Happy enough with this. Lost because I'm not in great shape not because I made big mistakes or got trapped or anything.

Would be nice if they made the Quali's a bit more interesting though. Would be nice to go run the final.

Went to checkout the Sprint Model map. Didn't inspire a lot of confidence in the mapping of the vegetation or trails but was still good to have a shake out and see some Europey buildings and whatnot.

An odd amount of cats. Like maybe 5 or 6. All just lying places barely moving, not at all disturbed by 100s of runners passing less than a foot from some of them in small alleys.

Orienteering 27:30 [3] 5.09 km (5:24 / km) +7m 5:22 / km

Two Mini-Sprints on the Sigulda maps. A 2.05k course, then 6:30 rest/jog to the other start, then a 1.95k course, then jog home. Nice to get some sprint training in on the relevant type of buildings. Feel good about the navigation for Saturday. If only I was faster!

Ankle not feeling good all of a sudden. Swollen last night and this morning and sore during the second of these and afterwards. Resting completely tomorrow I think. Not sure what set it off. Maybe hours of walking with all my heavy bags, maybe too much dynamic movements or stretching it past usual in yesterdays warmup.
