Orienteering race 1:26:49 [4] 9.4 km (9:14 / km) +470m 7:23 / km

Jukola, 6th leg Sibbo-Vargarna 2.

Started too fast. Thought I had it under control but this was not the case. Wrong hill, lost a lot of minutes (8th to first time, so must be more than 5'). Knew that mistakes are common also in good times and didn't got depressed by this. Towards second control was more focussed and reduced speed drastically. This went much better. Came in a group after thirth control . Controlled everything well because there was a lot of forking. Never problems, long leg went for certainty and ran through yellow part on hill (ran as an athletic pist, which was quiet abnormal here). Towards the 14th control there were a lot of people in the forest from other legs. Was difficult to read the map well because I needed to look where I was running to pass the people. Lost contact, arrived at the wrong control, 3' lost. I was clearly not the only one there. Last part went quiet good. Tried to push bit harder because I was not feeling tired at all.

This was a very nice Jukola. Pitie about the mistake in the beginning but still very satisfied about orienteering in this demanding forest. Enjoyed a lot.

Rest day. Waiting for Jukola to begin. We had a team meeting with first and second teams today and watch part of the Venla race on big screen (thanks to our sponsor Ingman Arla ;-)). It is clear the terrain is not easy and heavy to run. In Venla top teams made big mistakes. In our own women first team Tatiana made a 11' mistake. The challenge will be to be certain and patient all the time and not to try to push too hard.

Training on Landbo, terrain next to Jukola 2012 terrain and quiet similar terrain as Jukola 2010. Everything went quiet good but didn't saw the very little control sometimes.

Cycling together with Joost. Went towards Pellenberg, Lovenjoel, Bierbeek, Beauvechain, Hamme-Mille, Nethen, Ottenburg, Huldenberg, Neerijse, Leefdaal, Egenhoven and back to Leuven. Some hills with accelerations, for the rest easy tempo. Nice training.
