Orienteering (Tundarri) 51:08 [3] *** 5.5 km (9:18 / km) +140m 8:15 / km
spiked:13/16c

SA Middle Distance Champs - W21A

Just me and Bridget in this class today, so I knew I had a really good chance of coming second so long as I just finished and didn't mispunch... :D

I successfully managed to finish and had a good time running around, too. I left pretty late as I had to wait for Tyson to get back, and as it was afternoon starts I didn't get off until after 3pm, which doesn't really feel like orienteering time to me and my legs. However, once I got going I trundled around on my unfit legs ok. No major problems, just a couple of wobbles. I feel like I finally have this navigation thing down - in the mallee anyway. I love orienteering up there! It's so green at the moment too - lots of healthy crops.

Note
(sick)

Still feeling dizzy and nauseous, although I managed to go to work yesterday I haven't done any exercise as such. I felt so lethargic yesterday that I even caught the lift up and down to my new office on the 4th floor when normally I would always take the stairs. Hope I'm better for the weekend at Burra. My dream of being fit for Nationals is quickly fading, though...

Hiking (Hawthorndene) 25:00 [2]

To M&D's through the forest pushing the pram with Paddy on my back.

Pram walk (Hawthorndene) 1:00:00 [2]

Such a bad idea! I'd been feeling steadily more and more nauseous during the day and thought maybe walking home from M&D's after lunch would make me feel better. WRONG. Had to stop several times when I felt like I was going to throw up and got all achey and generally feverish as I went. Walked up the creek to Upper Sturt and over the hill and it seemed to take forever. Ended up with a high fever in the evening plus dizzy spells and nausea - hope it's nothing too serious. I could really do with a run of good health, please.

Orienteering (Pymton) 47:31 [3] *** 5.4 km (8:48 / km) +180m 7:33 / km
spiked:13/13c

Lovely day to be running around the paddocks. I felt very slow running wise, and this was clearly a runners map, but I didn't make any mistakes navigationally so this went ok. The controls were not hidden away at all and some of them you could see from several hundred metres away, so it really was a running race! There were also a few fences, which are my biggest weakness. After asking at the start if there were any live electric fences and being told no (not on my course, anyway), I came across one very live electric fence that I had to cross twice and caused me a bit of concern trying to shimmy my way between the electric wire and the barbs. Luckily I could hear it buzzing when I first approached it... It also reminded me that this is what I hate most about rogaining! Rolled my ankle near the end and twisted my leg awkwardly, so I'll probably have some sore muscles tomorrow.
