Note
(rest day)

Super busy. Who knew having a new house would be so much work? Oh well, I walked back from the shops carrying shopping. That's a pretty big hike. I'm sure I'll fit in some form of aerobic exercise tomorrow.

Run (Belair) 1:17:00 [3]

Run from home to Zara's place so that Zara and Callum could show me the best way across the golf course in the dark. We met Jen and Simon in the carpark and headed up to the Long Gully Kiosk stretch point. For some reason everyone thought that running up Saddle Hill Road was a good idea - I love riding my bike down this road at ridiculous speed but running up didn't seem to appeal. Still, it wasn't too bad, although I didn't think I could chat and run at the same time! Legs feeling pretty empty for the downhill stretch and by the time we reached the single track beside the golf course I was feeling a bit unsure of my footing in the dark. Zara ran home with me so that Callum could sniff the new house (thanks!). New Adrenalin trail shoes (ASR) didn't feel like new shoes - so comfy! Definitely my new long orienteering / rogaining shoes of choice. :)

Run (North Adelaide) 41:00 [4]

Run with Tyson and Simon (well - I glimpsed a blur that might have been Simon a couple of times) around the North Adelaide loop. I wasn't going to run fast, but decided about 1/3 of the way around that I could probably up the pace a bit. Felt really good for a while but died pretty quickly again - although not quite to the point of having to walk - and was able to pick up the pace a couple more times after this. Half a lap of the uni loop with Jen (who'd been doing intervals) for a warm down. Hip/hamstring sore, but not in agony. Focussing on alignment of the hips and faster, shorter strides.

SA State Sprint Champs
Tyson did a great job of setting the sprint champs with a last minute change of venue after the Council wouldn't let him hold the event at Tangari (endangered grey-box woodland, apparently). The myriad of confusing MTB trails around the creeks made it really interesting - and confusing! I stuffed the first control of course (description - "dead tree, beneath"), finding control 19 and relocating from there. Biddy, who started 2 minutes after me caught me there. So then I tried to hang onto her as we headed up the hill, but she lost me on the way to 6. 8-9 I caught Katherine Dose and we raced the rest of the way, taking turns to lead. I was making less mistakes, but she was faster than me. Lots of fun! I never usually get to 'race' Biddy or Jen cause I can never catch them! :)
