Easy running with Els and Sofie Herremans in Heverleebos. Yesterday I hurt my calf during the race and couldn't walk decently after the race. Today I still feel it a lot. I hope it will disappear soon as I would like to do some intervaltraining tomorrow and Sunday I am going to run the cross race in Grimbergen. Now let's party hardy ;).

WRE in a very nice new mapped forest. I was physically strong today but I made too much mistakes to aim for victory. It already started towards control 1. I had seen Jeroen VDK, who started two minutes before me, go into the forest on the left side of the trail directly after the start. I picked up my map at the start and did the same. I looked at my map and suddenly I ran towards a fence. I didn't understand why there was a fence because if I was running correctly I should not pass a fence. After some time (20-30 sec) I realised where I was and that I shouldn't have gone to the left of the trail after the start but to the right. So for control one I immediately lost 55 sec. Never trust another runner! I was really pissed after this mistake but could focus again and my legs were feeling pretty good so I could push and was running well. At control 6 I caught Jeroen VDK but then at control 7 we lost around 30 sec (didn't found the control immediately between all the depressions). The following controls I was a bit slow in attacking the controls so always lost some seconds and towards control 11 I took the wrong routechoice, I went straight but should have gone along the trail at the right side (Jeroen VDK did this and could catch me again after I had run away for about 25 sec). The straight routechoice was tough so I had to recover to control 12. Afterwards I took the lead again and made another gap of around 20 sec with Jeroen but at control 16 I made another mistake of 30 sec so Jeroen was back in front of me. I caught him again and towards the end the attacking was not 100% for all controls. Still the race was ok but with those legs and certainly without the stupid mistake at control 1 it should have been a better result. Placing 8th, 2'24" behind the winner.

Subscribed for a day-entry and made a training of it. Easy running. Still made two small mistakes of 15 sec and one in the heather of 1 min (bad visibility). Did four accelerations after the race in view of tomorrow's WRE. Hope to perform well.

2nd day of 'Sylvester 5 days'. I feel already much better as yesterday. I ran a good race, pushed hard but felt that I was lacking that extra power due to the stomach problems of the days before. When I pushed too hard my stomach was reacting so I couldn't push fully. Sixth place (satisfied).

First day of the 'Sylvester 5 days'. Yesterday, Christmas dinner two and three. Disaster for my stomach. Visited the toilet a lot during the night. Feeling bad with no power. Was doubting to come but did it anyway. Have barely eaten something and have not much energy in my body. I run a bit but don't fulfill my whole race. Afterwards I start feeling much better.

Sunday evening I have eaten something wrong so I had a little food poisoning. Felt really bad during the night and the day. Worked a little bit from home but had to lay in my bed several hours.

Today I ran the long distance race in 'Zoniënwoud'. The race was run in pairs, I ran with Thomas VDK (our Belgian Champ long distance). We have both had some problems with our achilles tendon so we opted for the 14K course instead of the 20K course. A bit prudent but the right choice. It was a mass start, we were a bit too late at the start so everybody had already started but it was nice to catch them all. Good training!

Football 1:30:00 [4]

After a very tough workweek with little sleep, it's weekend again and it was football time. It was really nice to play the match but from the beginning on I felt that my body was still so tired and that I couldn't push hard. Anyway, we won with 4-2. Now it's wintertime so competition will only restart the 17th of January.

Physical test with the Belgian team. It was not really a test, it was more an introduction to the track. We need to run six rounds of around two kilometers. The real test will take place on 07/03/2009. I ran two fast rounds, one of 7' and of 6'54". A bit tired of the party, slept only 4h. And also a bit pain at the achilles tendon....

Wanted to run much longer but my achilles tendon was feeling bad again. Wanted to do 10x1min interval (1min in between) and they started to hurt again after four intervals so I stopped... It really sucks...

Easy running in the park 'Provinciaal domein'. Very nice day and very nice company to run with. Felt the achilles tendon only a little bit but not much so I think I will be able to do a next running training on Tuesday.

1h30 mountainbiking (Horst-route). Good feeling on the bike, enjoyed the trip very much. Achilles tendon is feeling much better after this training. Maybe I can try to run back tomorrow. See how it feels tomorrow.

Easy running with Thomas in Lommel. Is nice to change from training environment when working in Mol. Had a lot of pain in my hamstrings, achilles tendon and calf. The intervals yesterday were maybe not such a good idea (not yet recuperated from the football game...?). Tomorrow rest day.
