Running warm up/down 14:30 [1]

Orienteering 49:07 [2] 6.22 km (7:54 / km) +163m 6:59 / km

First orienteering in a long time and clearly not in o shape. The first half was fine and I was reading ahead and orienteering fairly smoothly but then I got tired and things got sloppy. Ah well, it's early season yet - lots of time to improve from here.

Running 29:48 [1] 4.3 km (6:56 / km) +175m 5:45 / km

Loosening up the legs after a couple of days of travel. Running down to the beach and back up (100m of climb) wasn't the best decision in the world but hey, it's not every day you're in a place like Beli. Photos to come.

Conditioning - rolling 20:00 [0]

8 PM

armchair orienteering 40 [0]

Went through all 23 legs of last year's Kvarner Bay Challenge Day 2 8.5km course with Riel and Alex. This yeas is the same map but expanded.

Note

Unlike what the baggage claim guy in Vancouver told me last summer you do not ALWAYS have to pick up your bag when transferring through customs. Alex and I waited for 30 minutes for our bags to show up on the baggage carousel only to miss our flight from Brussels to Venice. The lady at the Air Canada desk didn't want to give us free transfers to a new flight but thankfully her manager was our side. This resulted in a 9 hour layover in Brussels so Alex and I walked about downtown Brussels and repeatedly fell asleep and were woken up on the city bus. A very long boring day.

The bright side is that I'll have a good night of sleep before doing the 4.5 hour drive to Croatia in the morning.

Conditioning - Stretching 45:00 intensity: (15:00 @0) + (30:00 @1)

Went through the stretching for men video I got from Francis a few years ago. Definitely working harder than a '0 effort' on some of it today.

Deep water running 46:00 intensity: (27:00 @1) + (8:00 @2) + (8:00 @3) + (3:00 @4)

Last session before flying out today at 6:15. 46 minutes in the pool with unstructured bouts of effort.

Did the front yesterday. Back driveway this morning.
9 AM

Running long 1:31:35 [1] 14.48 km (6:20 / km) +43m 6:14 / km

Long run in Barrhaven visiting as many play structures as you could in 90 minutes.

Theoretically you scored one point for each play structure for each person that wasn't there. There were seven of us so if you were the only one to visit a given play structure you got 6 points. If everyone visited it you got no points.

Nobody actually bothered to compare afterwards.

Stretching 18:45 [0]

May have overstretched my left achilles... it's sore now.
