QOC orienteering meet at Combat Village at Quantico. Brown course. Hoping to slowly get back to running and not coughing. Took the cough suppressant 10 minutes before starting and was very careful not to get out of breath early (or late) so essentially no running beyond a shuffling jog and a lot of walking. At those speeds the navigation was not hard. Probably should have not taken the road to 1, I wanted to ease into any hard work and had no trouble with the control, but the extra distance cost a lot of time and the woods were open. Had trouble on the control near the water stop. I heard after I ran there was a meet note somewhere about the field being very different than mapped which would explain my problems. I did not see the trails so just headed straight for the road thru the light green. Light green turned into thorns and by the time I had fought my way thru, I was at the stream crossing. Missed the water stop, but was right on line for my control which I had no trouble reaching now.
Felt much better than last week and went at a faster pace on a longer and more technical course, so I was happy.
