Warmup on road before bus to start.

orienteering (red-short) 33:18 [4] 3.6 km (9:15 / km)

DVOA, Paths to Pagoda A-Meet. USOF short course, Red. Wanted to run harder but to much rock to get best speed. 2 min lost on first control and then 3 more when I spaced on 12. Rest good. Splits are posted.

At Boomerangs 7:30-9:30pm. Knew track would be closed for a meet today and I am resting anyway.

3:30pm. Work, Lake Accotink. Feeling very run down. May rest for remainder of week for short course champs at DVOA.

Sunday May 12, 2002 #

orienteering (blue) 2:34:57 [3] 9.45 km (16:24 / km)

QOC. Fountainhead Park VA. Blue course. 2:15pm. 80 degrees. Late starter and no water left at water stop. Got slower and slower. 1981 map has some problems and I had some problems. After the 2nd big parallel error on #11 put me over 110min, I walked the rest of the way in. Skipped 12 since it was late, course was closed and 12 was not on the direct line in. Full course was 9.7k. 375m.
Felt a lot better after a 40oz slurpee and Double Gulp of Gatorade. Hopefully the 4 1/2 hours of dying in the woods this weekend will be good training for SVO rogaine.
