run (grass/trail) 36:04 [3] 8.0 km (4:31 / km)

DCRRC-SLR Handicapped 8k. 8am. WandOD trail in Vienna VA. Even colder than yesterday. Had planned not to run, just show up and help out. Got talked into running anyway. My handicap was based on a 6:20 mile pace prediction in July. Tried to run 7:20 instead. 5 minutes over my handicap time put me in last. Ran on side of bike path as much as possible, much easier on the shin.
Half mile splits (first & last are short because race only 8km) 3:45, 3:43, 3:36, 3:35, 3:32, 3:39, 3:36, 3:37, 3:45, 3:16

orienteering (blue) 1:29:45 [3] 7.7 km (11:39 / km)

QOC, Wheaton MD. Blue course, 1pm. Shin ok (only hard surfaces seem to bother it) but afraid to put out serious effort. Running around 10min/km on fairly easy terrain with lots of trails. Couple of 5 minute errors pushed the time up. Splits are posted

run (road) 1:25:22 [3] 10.0 mi (8:32 / mi)

DCRRC-SLR. 710am., Cold outside this morning. Below 50 while I am used to 80 degrees. Took the short run option to only go 10 instead of full 17. Did not want to stress my shin. Good thing I did since it started to hurt at 7 miles. Walked the last mile to be safe. IwoJima, Mt Vernon trail past the airport, turn around at 4 mile run. Strange to see National Airport closed and quiet. Could see the Pentagon from the trail but only the undamaged side.
