Hagaby B Course. This was great fun. Decided to run the B so I'd be a bit more competitive (being on your own in a mass start is boring). It worked.

With Ilka and Carolyn to the first control. Went a bit low to the second then messed up following the line of people not to my third control, ending much lower down and wasting some time. David Jaffe saw me go higher and came up too. Bit like crowd source orienteering at times!.

From then was in parts on my own (maverick road route that would have worked if I'd looked at contours), and at other times with David, Ilka and Neil. Saved from going too far on a pond by Schepisi then was clean into the gold mining where the others made a mistake. Got caught up again not seeing a control on a crag (it was at the foot, not on the description).

We were all 4 pretty much together on the 3rd to last control and then a race down the hill. I took a good line in and managed to clinch it. So much fun, actually felt like I was racing!!

Backed up the orienteering with a ride. Got a bit put off the harder trails last time as a bit of a slog, and not really in the mood for that after running.

Instead did the easier trails on the south side of the road, which I'd only done a bit of on an MTBO course. Was super fun, loads easier but still enough bends, rocks and climb to make it fun. Having so much fun I did another half loop before going and playing a little on the other side. Couldn't find the beginning of the normal red trail.

Bit of a missed opportunity to actually ride with a map.

Bit of an explore out from Schepisi's. This would have been a hell lot easier with a mapboard, which I didn't think to bring. Without, it ended up with a lot of stopping to look ath the map. Mostly rough firetrail so guess that's decent MTBO practice.

Schepisi made me do the map with no paths, mostly a pretty good idea. This place is pretty techy and I was super slow but good to get back into the bush. Gave up when I got to the road and realised the next control would mean a fight through some gorse which I wasn't up for.

ToDay sprint round Castlemaine School. 1:2000 map a bit crazy. Some good puzzles though. Bit slow, not surprising given what else I've done today.

Don't know what was wrong with me today but felt a bit irritable through this. Another weird session where the idea is we all jog out slowly for pretty much 5 k (well it would have been if I hadn't stopped my watch for a bit) then run tempo back.

Run out was pretty slow with a lot of stops (I was at the back). Ran tempo pretty well at the start but then my hip started niggling, my breathing went a bit shit and felt a bit of a costochondritis like niggle so walked for a couple of hundred metres.

In a bad mood, need countryside.

Spent most of the day in bed wiped out by a migraine. Was feeling a bit better and thought the fresh air might do me good. Underestimated just how much migraine wipes me out, felt dreadful and just exhausted.
