Running race (Cathedrals Challenge ) 5:38:41 [5] 23.5 km (14:25 / km) +1319m 11:15 / km

Long, tough day out.

Felt like I was struggling on the road at the start but realised this was cos it was climbing more than I thought. Ok up messmate though got behind big group of people and struggled to get round. Freaked out a bit at the scary rope climb, and descent and generally got pissed off at being overtaken on the rocks even though everyone around me was hiking too.

Went over on my left ankle pretty hastily but it seems to survive though went over on it another couple of times on the way back down to cooks mill. Decided to carry on. Fine along the river to neds, and hiked the climb fairly steadily, then the ridge just seemed to go on forever (but at least no scary bits). Rolled ankle again but managed to jog down the hill.

Longest half marathon ever, and most technical race I've done. Not sure I really enjoyed it as just can't run on those rocks.

Clare and Steve both smashed it, 2nd lady and 1st man.

Warm up then weird fartlek where someone chose a time between 30 and 90 secs and that was then the effort and the recovery. I didn't like the unknown and don't think I put as much effort in. Also found all the over enthusiasm and high fiving a bit tiresome but maybe I'm just getting old and moany.

Lucy made us all do 10 mins of core, inc 5 mins of planks. Evil.

Meant to go steady but started fast and felt good. Maybe 9 days on a snowboard strengthened my legs a bit. Chest felt tight (HR strap?) and struggled in the last k prob not helped by headwind.

Happy to get another 27 secs off this time, only 40 secs from the pb...
