From Gairnshiel in to the bridge just beyond Loch Builg turn off. Having biked this a few weeks ago, decided to leave my skinny tyres on the mtb. Sadly, in that time the estate has decided to turn the track into a beach by spreading several inches of sand all over it, except where they decided to put 5cm chunks of rock instead. And there was a strong headwind. This ride only took 40’ 3 weeks ago - OMG!

After my nice chill ride I was meeting JS who had run over from Keiloch - plan being that he’d have the edge taken off him after a nice rest yesterday! Plan was for a circuit of Ben Avon, Carn Liath and Culardoch, but knew I had some bail out options if my body was complaining too much. Turned out it was happy enough for some more effort today and I didn’t feel like I was holding JS back too much. Got pretty chilly on the tops with a few squalls coming in and a bitter headwind for the first half. Quite pleasant at times in between when the sun came out.
Loads of wildlife- 3 herds of deer, hare, dotterel plus chicks, snow bunting on summit of Ben Avon and a heron being mobbed by a bird of prey (Osprey?) on the way back out. Cracking day out!
