(rest day)

Lairig Ghru finish timing - fun supporting and watching everyone finishing. Back not too impressed at standing for so long.

Glen Affric 5 munros on a blue sky scorching day. From cp by Chisholme bridge along the road to Affric Lodge then up the hill path to head onto the Sgurr na Lapich ridge. Mam Sodhail, Carn Eighe, Beinn Fionnlaidh, Carn Eighe again (could have bypassed round it first time!), An Leth-chreag, Tom a Choinnich, Toll Creagach and back to cp. Long way but took it steady and felt like I was moving ok throughout the day. Was worried about water but managed to refill from a trickle below Beinn Fionnlaidh. Got through ~4.5l in total. Mentally felt much easier than yesterday- I think it was the flies that tipped me over yesterday. Had only met 2 people until the descent from Tom a Choinnich when a few more appeared.
Happy Tired Bunny. Out for 7.5h total.

Glen Affric 1 - Me 0
Control hanging for ScotJOS
4km jog in along the loch side from main GA car park. Then into the terrain. OMG some brutal stuff on the northern slopes. Soon had a large cloud of flies escorting me too, which didn’t improve the experience, along with the roasting heat. Moving so slowly- ~18’ / km in places. Absolutely stunning though and the views made me smile again when I had to stop for a breather. Can’t believe how long this took - out for 3:45 total.

Road cycling 55:00 [2] 16.43 km (3:21 / km) +201m 3:09 / km
ahr:110 max:140

Still haven't got the road bike fixed, but realised today that the bike shop had put it back together in bottom front ring, which means it is rather more usable than I thought. Short loop through the Dess bowl. Lovely day and was so tempted to keep going, but meant to be recovering and working! Loving being back on my roadie.... really must get it sorted.

Running hills 1:04:00 [5] 9.0 km (7:07 / km) +480m 5:37 / km
ahr:156 max:190 shoes: Speedcross 4

4 x long hill reps of the cistern track. 10:12, 10:08, 9:56, 10:03. 8' recovery jog back between. Happy with how I managed to hold this together - head was pretty fuzzy by the end but legs seemed to keep going quite well.
Really amazed that I managed to do this session as head was not there at all in the morning and having trouble even deciding where to go / what to do. But once I set off the legs seemed ok and head seemed to clear out (at least for a while!). Big tick. Means I can have a nice recovery day tomorrow before hopefully a couple of longer sessions - meant to be a big training week this week.

Running warm up/down 40:00 [3] 5.5 km (7:16 / km) +60m 6:54 / km
shoes: Speedcross 4

Jog to bottom of the cistern track from the bridge in Aboyne, then back from the top of the last one down the west side of Birsemore (mistake at this time of year).
7 PM

Running 35:00 [2] 4.2 km (8:20 / km) +30m 8:03 / km
ahr:120 max:154

Control collecting at Denlethen. Didn't need this and shouldn't have been so long but E was being a completely selfish and unhelpful s**t.
