Ski Touring 1:30:00 [2] 9.7 km (9:17 / km) +390m 7:44 / km

Carnferg with J+E (x2), R+M. Brilliant! Snow just lovely all the way, but especially through the pine forest above the plantation. Slow climb up trying to help keep R motivated, but that was good on tired legs. Descent was a lot easier than anticipated and just a couple of rock scrapes. Out for 2.5h

X-country skiing 1:00:00 [3] 5.7 km (10:32 / km) +125m 9:29 / km

Potties. From the green, out by the north track then back over Craigmore trig pt. Heavy going, having got that little bit milder. Managed the descent off the top with only one face-plant; think I'll call that a success.

X-country skiing 1:28:00 [3] 11.6 km (7:35 / km) +225m 6:55 / km

Needed to do something a bit lighter, so got the skinny skis out and decided to prep a bit of track behind the house. Turned out the DW towards Kinker was the least trashed bit of track so ended up doing 4 x reps as far as the river-bank turn off and back. Met someone walking in my tracks on the 2nd loop and politely asked him if he could go to the side. He didn't look too impressed, but did agree to it.

X-country skiing 1:18:00 [3] 7.7 km (10:08 / km) +180m 9:04 / km

Back round the woods and fields with E. Couple of laps of the fields and a couple of off-trail sections in the woods. Tracks recovered from IBs effort to trash them yesterday and all nice skiing again. Not getting great grip to start with and using arms / shoulders way too much = shafted.

X-country skiing 51:00 [3] 5.8 km (8:48 / km) +150m 7:47 / km

Wee trip over to DAP for hot choc and cakes then a lap of the fields on the way back to work some of it off. Been skiing the touring skis for the last two days and they are heavy. Guess it's good strength training but I am def feeling it! Hoping the tracks skis will feel like a whizz when I go back to them.

X-country skiing 2:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (10:00 / km) +260m 9:01 / km

First decent skiing out of the back door since 2011. Down the DW (lovely) to the village to get a few essentials. Then a big lap of the woods and fields. Skiing good throughout. On metal-edged touring skis so was quite hard work and felt tired coming up the last hill.

X-country skiing 52:00 [3] 5.2 km (10:00 / km) +130m 8:53 / km

Back out for another loop. Tracks down DW and through fields had vanished almost completely and pretty wild heading out into the wind in the open. Back into the woods and it was all going smoothly until I got back to the main track up from DAP to find that someone (IB...) had driven on all the tracks, making them a complete nightmare for skiing. Really not happy :-( And I reckon it was all just to create a shuttle service for the downhillers piste. Grr.

X-country skiing 1:17:00 [3] 8.3 km (9:17 / km) +90m 8:48 / km

2 laps of Aboyne golf course with J, E, RC and AT. Better than yesterday, but still a bit sticky in places. Got a bit of ice on the bottom of both skis by the 2nd lap and wasn't getting great glide. They need a good clean and re-wax too - good indoor job for sometime in the next day or two.
Left hamstring a bit tweaky after last night.

X-country skiing 28:00 [2]

Aboyne golf course. Just a bit too thin and wet yet. Some nice glide in places, but sticky elsewhere. Maybe improved by tomorrow :-)
7 PM

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 3.4 km (5:53 / km)

To the "White" and back. Pace was a bit hot for the w-u.

Drills 5:00 [2]

A few drills etc.

Running intervals 26:00 [5] 4.5 km (5:47 / km)

12 x reps as a wonky pyramid (skipped a couple on the way back down) with mostly ~1' recoveries. Shortest to gate and longest most of the way to far end. Snow came on pretty heavy in the middle. Was well up compared with normal (giving BS a run for his money) - guess 10cm of white stuff plays more to my strength compared with others. Fun :-)

Orienteering 35:00 [3] 3.3 km (10:36 / km) +150m 8:39 / km

Tech 10 #6 Glen Tanar. Working on control flow. Mostly fine, reading ahead and moving smoothly. Went off-line to 1 (not sure how). Then a worse mistake at no 11, getting height wrong. Nice wee session.
