Running 52:00 [3] 8.2 km (6:20 / km) +60m 6:07 / km

Slow start to the day and didn't feel ready to return to normality at GoD. Lunchtime lap of Loch Kinord with J and E instead (toe seems much recovered). Lovely day but path crazy icy - lots of people looking at E's feet trying to figure out how he was staying upright as he bounced around. Legs a bit tired but feeling strong.

Note
(rest day)

Had planned an early morning run up Roque Nublo before travelling but it was raining and windy - must be time to go home!
Great holiday. Fantastic trails for running / walking in the mountains. Reckon we had done most of the peaks on the Roque Bentayga skyline by the end of the trip. They could be strung together into an awesome circular route of ~60km...

Walking 1:30:00 [2] 16.8 km (5:21 / km) +900m 4:14 / km

From El Juncal onto the ridge and tops further west/ north than last time. High point of 1535m. Out by small paths and back by the forest road. 3:50 moving time.

Walking 45:00 [2] 9.0 km (5:00 / km) +630m 3:42 / km

Out and back along a ridge to Altavista. Mostly really good path and E managed to hobble along ok. Lovely pine forest dripping with lichen. Cheeky raven and 2 giant lizards on the summit. Out for 3:10 total.
6 PM

Running 1:12:00 [3] 8.7 km (8:17 / km) +600m 6:09 / km

With J from Ayacata along the road to El Asserador then up onto Roque Nublo. Nicest route to the top. Late afternoon sun on the rocks heading up and a cracking sunset over Teide. Headtorches back from the summit by La Goleta. Brilliant.

Running 1:25:00 [3] 10.1 km (8:25 / km) +630m 6:25 / km

Ayacata to Roque Bentayga. Up to La Goleta, over to La Culata then the shoulder to Cruz de Tamada. Lovely run on technical single track. Legs feeling pretty good.

Running 50:00 [3] 6.8 km (7:21 / km) +150m 6:37 / km

Family activity somewhat hampered by E’s broken (?) toe from yesterday at the beach, so did a few easier tourist things. Drove to the top of the island at Pico de la Nieves and from there it would have been rude not to run back to Ayacata. Seems much busier everywhere today - not sure why- but hot too.

Walking 1:30:00 [2] 11.5 km (7:50 / km) +1150m 5:13 / km

E made a request that we do some normal family things on holiday so we did a beach day today. Just 11.5km and 1150m of climb to get there and back to Playa Guigui from Tasartico :-) Much hotter down towards the coast and quite a slog up to the col and also on the way back. Nice spot once we got there although a few more folk than anticipated (double figures maybe). A bit of a hippy enclave but all very mellow. Tide was in too far to get round to the bigger area of beach but had a good splash in some big waves. Recommended!

Walking 1:00:00 [2] 11.6 km (5:10 / km) +900m 3:44 / km

From El Asserador along the ridge to the SW. Bit of faff at the start as the line of path has been changed, but lovely once we got going. Lots of little peaks with view points and some beautiful pine forest too. Went as far as Morro de Pajonales then dropped towards the barranco and El Juncal. Road back up the valley from there. Out for 4h, 3h moving. Hardly saw a sole the whole time - great start to the year.
