Running 2:15:00 [3] 20.1 km (6:43 / km) +400m 6:07 / km

From home - Scolty by N Deeside. Back tracks through Kinker castle grounds to Sluie woods. Out the east end and across a few fields before dropping to cross A93. Then tracks through first part of Trustach, before climbing onto eastern hill through terrain. Off the far end then river bank path pretty much all the way to Banchory. Nice for a change and some bits were completely new to me, not least the north bank of the river.
Time that Trustach got brought back into use, even if it's a bit "bitty". Should work fine for a WeTT session or similar.

OWS 5:00 [2]

HQ challenge to swim in Loch Muick. Gorgeous morning but the wind was whipping down the loch and there were some serious waves out there. New kit worked well. Only really the feet that got v cold in an old pair of booties. Trying to avoid too much water splashing on the face but got a couple of mouth fulls. A lot of faff for 5' of swim, but it was the whole experience that counted. Fun!

Carnferg with J up the big Birse track and back by gamie's track. Feeling v heavy legged all the way but managed to dig deep and run all of the hill. Gorgeous morning but chilly.
Easy day tomorrow.

See if this helps speed up DNC recovery at all. Not feeling too hammered from Birsemore, but took this nice and steady.

8' reps on hill inc. 5 x 20 double stride bounds with poles
Surprised at how hard this was. Shoulders were feeling it, even from this short workout. Guess that means it's probably quite useful conditioning.
6 PM

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.5 km (10:00 / km) +100m 7:30 / km

Jog up the cistern track to DNC start. Legs feeling heavy.

Orienteering race 58:00 [4] 5.5 km (10:33 / km) +150m 9:17 / km

DNC #1 Birsemore. Yay - fun to be back night O-ing. Took a while to get into it. Everything was slower and further than expected. Quite a few small misses and a bigger 3.5' at no 10, although frustratingly gps trace looked like I went straight to it initially. Maybe went over the top - certainly didn't notice the rock. Could have been worse for first one back!
NH has set the standard for the series. Especially appreciated the chocolate at the finish :-)

Short lap of the woods as w-u then v short jog at the end

8x2'+1' on the track behind the house. Legs just about ok, but feeling the small hills.

And rolling. Lower calf area v tight when running this am.
