After yesterday's big day, something easier was called for today. Decided on Stuchd an Lochain at the top end of Glen Lyon, another new tick for me, but a short morning's walk. Legs felt shafted on the steeper stuff. Out for 2:30.

Ben Lawers munros with J and E. Didn't get started too early after morning faff getting there, and started to clag over once we got up onto the tops. Got darn chilly too. Made good time to the top of Ben Lawers. I was determined, at minimum, to continue to An Stuc as I didn't have a tick against this from many years ago when it wasn't classed as a munro. Once we got there it seemed to make sense to continue to Meall Garbh too with a return by the track on the S slopes of Ben Lawers. E wasn't so keen on this though, so there was a bit of a "debate". Eventually continued and once off Meall Garbh I couldn't not go and bag Meall Greigh too, as this was also missing from my ticks. Left J and E to head straight back and with a bit of adrenaline made good time onto the last top. Spotted them 10' ahead when they hit the track and was able to catch again within a few km. Long slog back from there and a grumpy boy by the end, but a grand day out with 4 new munros for him, 2 for me and all good endurance training. ~5h 15m total.

~1hr run to Meall Greigh and then to catch the boys. Felt surprisingly sprightly at this point. Pastie that was giving me gyp earlier must have finally kicked in :-)

Coyles of Muick end to end with E. Got dropped at Loch Ullachie and headed straight up to the edge of the forest. Along the ridge - one of my favourite paths - and onto the top. Dry as ever at the moment. Off the far end down to the forest track and out to meet J on the Loch Muick road. Legs not too bad from yesterday.

Carnferg. From Queens Loch along rd to gamie's track. Just a strip down the middle of the parking field as evidence of last week's antics. All the way up the track to join Fungle, and round the back of Carnferg. Up to the top from the back, then direct descent and return by the Fungle. Couldn't resist a dip in Queens Loch at the end, but didn't get too far as it got v shallow in the middle. Glorious day. Stunning run. Lovin the hills.

Trip to the Coull quarry pond with J and E. V cold and full of big tadpoles (seems a bit late for them) but good fun. Got quite wobbly after, and it seemed a long walk back down the track. Must take some sweeties in future.

Through woods and fields to military road, loop round Lumph on roads then back through the woods from IBs.

Down to LK from lay-by and round as far as BoV cp

Running intervals 32:00 [5] 5.2 km (6:09 / km) +100m 5:37 / km

8x3'+1' round LK. Got into the zone and almost missed the beeps a couple of times.

OWS 20:00 [2] 0.58 km (34:29 / km)

W-d in the loch. Got quite close to a cormorant perched on the protruding stick. Think it was a young one.

Monday Aug 7, 2017 #

Note

Up at Huntly but only 5 / expected 13 turned up, so I wasn't really needed. Decided to join them anyhow on a cycle (with the long-awaited new bikes) to see what tracks in the Bin were like, but turned out that 2 of the group were incapable of using gears, so we didn't get very far in the hour... Enjoyable enough anyhow, a change from 6 Days and O, and at least I still get paid!

Round the woods and fields. Legs feeling quite fresh - will aim to do a bit more tomorrow.
