X-country skiing 1:15:00 [3] 11.0 km (6:49 / km) +250m 6:07 / km

Plan was for a lightish morning to leave energy for a bit of a tur in the afternoon. Skate practice again. Legs felt much better this morning, but still took me ages to get into the skiing rhythm. Did the 5km loop first then two different shorter ones of 3.3 and 3km.
3 PM

X-country skiing 1:30:00 [3] 11.2 km (8:02 / km) +235m 7:16 / km

Left Liatoppen after lunch and headed for Holsåsen where we'd done a good tur last year. Short on day hours though and discovered fairly rapidly that the fjell top was getting somewhat Scottish. Changed plans to do a shorter loop that dropped into the valley and found much better conditions there. Lovely sunny day and some good views.

Headed out in the same direction as yesterday but extra bit of trail to the north had been pisted so continued on that way. Felt just awful for the first 30' - so tired and groin tweaking with every slip of the ski, but eventually seemed to warm up into some sort of rhythm. Pisting continued from the next junction further out onto the fell and E seemed keen for an adventure, so carried on with him while J turned back. As it turned out it didn't go much further, so we turned back to the previous junction where we meet a big HSK group of older juniors and photo bombed their shot. One lass continued on the next unpisted section of an inner loop, so E and I decided to follow. Turned out really fun with good enough going and some great views into the mountains. Eventually rejoined yesterday's loop but turned the opposite way to take a different loop back to the lysløype. Tired but really enjoyable and even got back in time for lunch.

X-country skiing 50:00 [3] 7.8 km (6:25 / km) +120m 5:57 / km

Some more skating practice on the lysløype. 4x laps of the 2km loop. Getting a bit ragged by the end, but E wanting to get a new distance record. Gorgeous afternoon- cleared out completely now. Sauna after to help ease muscles out.

Friday Feb 10, 2017 #

More fresh snow overnight but pister out early and trails in lovely condition. Did the biggest loop from Liatoppen that had been pisted. A lot of downhill early on which meant a big climb back up at the end. Skiing just with J and E as sadly all E's peer group have pulled out sick. Groin feeling tweaky after yesterday. Grilled pølser for lunch back at the huts with the rest of the group.

X-country skiing 35:00 [3] 4.9 km (7:09 / km) +120m 6:22 / km

Skate ski practice round the 5km lysløype from the ski centre. Technique felt ok but the hills were tough - tiring already. Decided this was probably enough if I'm to last the week

Thursday Feb 9, 2017 #

X-country skiing 1:30:00 [3] 13.2 km (6:49 / km) +140m 6:28 / km

Stopped off at Oppheim just along the valley from Liatoppen where we'll be based for the w/e. Hadn't been pisted since fresh snow a few days ago, but nice enough to ski. Definitely looking a bit thinner than usual though. Easy loop with no steep climbs or descents. E got cold and had a go slow strop which of course just got him colder - not v bright :-(

Wednesday Feb 8, 2017 #

Round the woods. W-u for 10' then tried to do a bit of a fartlek session by working the uphills. First one felt tough but they got easier after that. Sleety - nae v nice.

7 x efforts something like 1m, 45s, 1m30s, 40s, 1m15s, 1m40s, 30s

Tuesday Feb 7, 2017 #

Running warm up/down 58:00 [3] 9.1 km (6:22 / km) +80m 6:06 / km

Extended w-u from Cambus over the top to Burn o' Vat (26'). Then extended jog back from the end of intervals by the DW. Felt bad at the start of the jog back but managed to get going ok again. Tough session, but good.

Running intervals 32:00 [5] 5.2 km (6:09 / km) +40m 5:56 / km

8x3'+1' from BoV c-wise round the Muir, including the loop over towards Loch Davan. Finished on the drive in to Dinnet House.
