Roller skiing 30:00 [3]

Helping with coaching. Grabbed 10' at lunch and 15' at the end to do a bit for myself. Foot felt fine in ski boots.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2] 4.0 km (7:30 / km) +80m 6:49 / km

Long w-u before Elbrimick. Up to top of Elrick hill, back down and a full lap of the woods.

Running race 28:54 [5] 4.6 km (6:17 / km) +230m 5:02 / km

Elbrimick dash. Big field and got badly placed at the start - boxed on run out and queuing on first climb. Rolled R foot on the first descent trying to get past someone, but it wasn't too bad so kept going. Just behind LM at top of Brimmond, then passed her on the descent. Caught HW and quite a few others on the next climb and after that dug in to try and hold them all off. Really pleased, especially after feeling so tired on Thu. E also ran the senior race and finished 20s ahead of me. Foot sore at finish and looking a bit bruised, but don't think it's too serious.
6th F, 3rd V behind CW and VO

Note

Trip into the big smoke to do some messages then stopped off on the way home for a wander up to the mast on Meikle Tap. Perhaps not the best plan for my foot, but didn't feel too bad.

Checking the new Crathie map. Legs were so heavy... and that's after walking almost all of last night. Tough wee loop crossing back and forth over the ridges.

DNC Dinnet Muir N. My first time on this part of the map. Tough tough course both physically and technically. Lost an awful lot of time at no 2. Thereafter a few minutes at 10, but generally finding the controls alright. Just horribly slow. Enjoyed it in a strange way though :-)

Easy leg loosener. To Aboyne via WHW / Bellwood, loop round the Castle grounds to golf course and back by the DW. Feeling remarkably undamaged from yesterday, although somewhat tired after a poor night's sleep (sick E).

Good long w-u. Up the hill first with JG then a bit extra after meeting JK - good to catch up.

Running race 44:32 [5] 10.0 km (4:27 / km) +110m 4:13 / km

Detox 10km. First time since 2007 (41:34) I reckon. Worried that I was heading up the hill too fast, but tucked in behind TR and it didn't feel too bad. Stayed close behind him all the way through to near the end of the farm track and felt happy that I had been working at a good pace. Felt a long way back downhill into the village from there but had SH in my sights and tried not to let her get any further ahead.
Really pleased to break 45', especially at Lumphanan. So nice to have lots of support at various points round the course too. Good start to the year.
