Running 3:45:00 [3] 32.0 km (7:02 / km) +900m 6:10 / km

Long run from Aboyne with SR and MN. Out by the Fungle and back by the Firmounth track. Stunning day but pretty chilly first thing (-9C heading in to Aboyne at 8am). Mountain hare, big herd of red deer and the GT caper all out to play. The latter posing in a Scots pine clucking away at us.
Last 7km back down the track and along the road were pretty gritty - too much time in terrain recently.

Stretching 10:00 [1]

Feeling v creaky. Back especially.

Note
(rest day)

Beautiful day. Photo wander round Loch Kinord.

Running 52:00 [3]

Over in Strathdon and such a gorgeous morning that it seemed a shame not to make something of it. Up onto Ben Newe from the cp and then a lap round the hill on the forest tracks. Hard work in places, but not as bad as it used to be with the buggy :-)
V hungry by the end.

Orienteering 25:00 [2]

Rest day planned but then realised I needed some of the markers that were still out on DM...

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Jog over to DAP then up to start. Feeling v tired and heavy legged.
Brisk walk back home after.

Orienteering race 51:00 [4]

DNC # 3, Dess. Not really up for this, so pleasantly surprised to enjoy it once I got going. Legs didn't seem so bad either. Really just one miss at the crag at 13 - must have been just to right and looked the wrong way. Would have been hard pushed to find excuses for messing up in our back garden.

Running warm up/down 13:00 [3]

Run in to start point - brisk as wanted to get ahead with control hanging

Orienteering 30:00 [3]

Control hanging at Achtemarack. Totally focused as didn't want to waste any time and kept map contact really well. Still one of the best forests and the map is still very usable despite its age..

Orienteering 25:00 [2]

Jogged back round a few controls on the circle map, then back to the road by the Finale loop.

Note

Really pleased with how the whole camp went. Was well enough organised to be able to enjoy it without worrying about the next stage. Generally great attitude from the youngsters making them a pleasure to coach. Just need to sharpen up on nutrition and domestic assistance :-)

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Before and after hill reps at Plodda, plus jog back between sets.

Running hills 20:00 [5]

2 x sets of 5x1'+1' on big track below cp at Plodda. Felt quite good on the second set. Think I needed this to get my legs moving properly again.

Running 55:00 [3]

Jog in to Plodda north for tech session after parking bus near public road end, then back out after.

Orienteering 20:00 [2]

Shadowing KC round a corridor course. Wonderful bit of forest. Long may they not cut it down!
