Sur Le Tarn de St Chely a Pas de Soucy (20km). Brilliant. Had the river to ourselves for the first couple of hours as we were somewhat more efficient than others in getting started. More folk around after La Malene but they mostly made us look like pros. Nothing too challenging on the water. Lots of mini rapids but managed to keep upright and only fell out with E after ~17km :-) Hot. Very. Scenery fantastic. Heron on the bank, vultures overhead and the biggest toad ever waddling down to the river.
O France day 5. 18' to number 1 was not the start I was looking for. Kind of lost any competitive interest after that, and made lots of bad mistakes. Not important - we're on holiday :-) E managed to uphold the family name with a great 2nd place overall.
O France day 4 "middle distance". Well if the first few days were a bit bingo then this was a whole scale worse. Really couldn't figure out what techniques to use. None seemed to work too well and relocation was just impossible. Ended up 3rd despite 15' of mistakes!
O France Day 3. Out in the forest first and playing games of hide and seek without any tracks going in and out from behind the bushes. Some good nav but too many mistakes for a decent result.
Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
Note
Late afternoon walk from Montaigut up to Col de Pas des Croix then along ridge to the road.
O France Day 2. Lots of good bits again today. Unfortunately the 24' trying to find no 51 kind of blew the race :-( Not too happy with the map in that area.
O France day 1. Lots of good points from today's race but annoyed to lose 5+' on a control when I had been standing 3m from it earlier. Surprised to take a win but late start probably helped.
