Running 44:00 [3]

Morning run from campsite up the track towards Slap Savica then back the same way. Plunge in the lake after.
On to Croatia now and the next stage of our adventure.
5 PM

Orienteering 45:00 [2]

Training near Delnice. Grimmest forest ever. Managed ~2km in 45' and found 5/7 controls. Ice storm damaged - hope the race areas aren't quite as horrible!

Walking 1:30:00 [1]

Ascent of Vogel starting and finishing at top of gondola. Bigger climb than expected as there was a 150m drop from the ski area to the valley we walked up. Highlight was the very tame herd of goats on top of the mountain. Out for 4h+
Enjoyed some impromptu Slovenian entertainment on the return gondola ride. A guy with a squeezebox started playing something (obviously a popular Slovenian anthem) and 50 or so people in the queue instantly joined in the song - very unBritish!
Dip in the lake when we hot back but it felt much colder - think the breeze had stirred the water.

Walking 30:00 [1]

Another easy day today. Walked up the Mostnica gorge and on to the Voje waterfall. Out for 3h.

Kayaking 30:00 [1]

Swimming 10:00 [1]

Warm enough to be quite pleasant today so able to stay in a bit longer. Felt good on the legs - quads sore after yesterday.

Walking 3:00:00 [1]

South Bohinj ridge from Sija to Crna prst with J and E. Took the gondola and chairlift at Vogel up to 1600m. Cloud was still sitting on the lake when we left but cleared out half way up the gondola into a lovely sunny day. Early start (8:30 lift) to hopefully catch the best of the day. Ridge was awesome - fantastic views north to Triglav, as well as west towards Italy, north to Austria and south towards Croatia. No major difficulties on the ridge and generally much easier going than two days ago. More new botanical interest including edelweiss and dianthus amongst many others. Reached Crna prst in good time but again the descent proved the tedious bit. Long, steep and rough and legs were well shot by the time we got back down. Almost beat the afternoon storm and just caught the hourly bus as it flew by.
Think this one rates in my all time top 10 (apart from the descent). Out for 7h total.

Kayaking 1:00:00 [1]

Easy day today. Took a 3 person canoe for a paddle round the lake. Had some trouble balancing out our weight and paddle power appropriately, but eventually circumnavigated the perimeter, rudely interrupting the odd skinny dipper who thought they'd found a peaceful spot. Lunch in the village at the other end of the lake. Out for 3h ish. Hot.

Mountain biking 1:00:00 [1]

Went for a solo pootle round the lake on the bike later in the afternoon. Single track on the far side turned out to be oob to bikes, but I certainly wasn't the first along there. Walked a fair bit of this section. Thunder rumbling by the end but no rain to speak of.

Note

Finally warm enough for a swim too. Water pretty cold 10cm down.

Walking 3:00:00 [1]

From Koca pri Savici up the Triglav Lakes valley as far as the hut at Koca pri Triglavskih jezerih then back via Dom na Komni. Long tough walk on rough paths. First section climbed the 600m wall adjacent to Slap Savica in a couple of km - fun. Amazing scenery, more fab flora, an ibex and an as yet unidentified birdie. Awesome walk but a long way back after lunch and all v tired by the end. E set a great pace all day. Weather mix of sun and cloud - good for walking. 7 1/2 h total Inc almost an hour for lunch.

Running 30:00 [3]

Early run from Ratece with J up the road to the ski jumps at Planica. Some serious EU investment in the 7 jumps here as well as the cycle tracks. Good to see it going into sport.
3 PM

Mountain biking 1:50:00 [2]

From campsite at Ukanc along side of Lake Bohinj then a loop up to Bohinjska Cesnjica round Rudnica and back by Brod. Mix of rough track, quiet road and more dedicated tarmac cycle track (~50%). Mostly fairly flat but a gradual climb up the valley on the far side followed by a sharp descent on the road. Wet again but dried up nicely while we were out. Forecast to improve over the next few days - better had, didnt't come here to not look at / play in the mountains.
