Road cycling 1:15:00 [3]
(injured)

Got chucked out on the way home from the Sc Relays. Had originally planned to go from Balmoral, but it was late, I hadn't eaten much and it was also rather wet. So compromised on starting from the west side of Ballater and cycled home via the SD Rd to Aboyne. Steady pace, brightened up quite nicely and felt ok once I got into it. It was far enough for today and the last climb back up the track made me realise that I really was quite tired.

Mountain biking 3:00:00 [2]
(injured)

To make up for missing the SC I came up with a grand plan to cycle down the Tilt from Linn of Dee to Blair Atholl, in the knowledge that I could get a lfit back again from the other side. It's been on my to do list, but routes like this are always a faff with transport logistics. Wasn't sure how much of a bike push there would be in the middle section, but it wasn't as bad as I expected, and was physically very easy. It's primarily downhill going in that direction, and most of the path is really quite good - just not always good enough for my biking skills. One section in particular the path is very narrow and drops off horribly steeply into the gorge. Either side of the single track (~5km) the going was good and it was easy to make good time. Nice day for it. Out for 3:45 with lots of stops - not in any rush.

Road cycling 50:00 [2]
(injured)

From Finzean farm shop out the F of Birse road to the end of the tarmac then back the same way. Had intended to do a bit more but was feeling very tired and the road was hillier than I remembered (did feel a bit easier on the way back). Have been feeling below par all week with hay-fevery nose and sinusy sore heads and last night had a stonker of a head and didn't get much sleep. Big day planned for tomorrow, so best not to push too much today.
Had a close encounter with wildlife in the form a young thrush sitting on the doorstep of FoB kirk. Thought it must be injured, but after posing for my photos it flew off quite happily.

Mountain biking 20:00 [2]

Not much time today and it was a bit dreich, but I did cycle down to the evening do at the school with E (well actually about 100m behind him fairly rapidly). A bit more of a workout on the way back up.

From Aboyne, out the SD Rd to Dinnet, Ordie xrds, past D+Ks, Tarland Rd back to Aboyne and through the castle grounds. Another lovely evening and nice ride. Timed to perfection with E's tennis.

Road cycling 47:00 [3]
(injured)

Busy day. Feeling down - physio reckons another 1-2 weeks before I can get running again and sadly I know he's right. Needed to get out but E wasn't keen on a ride, so came to a deal whereby he would stay at home and make tea while I went for a spin ;-))
Kinker, P'murchie, L'phan, DAP and home via the main drive. Lovely evening, felt good and helped raise my spirits.
Spirits raised even more by getting back to find the table set with a wonderful pasta salad and bottle of wine.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Still feeling tired and a bit below par, so a proper rest day seemed like a good plan. Not sure I completely got that, what with trying not to lose 14 kids in the woods, more barrowing and keeping E quiet with a game of tennis.
