Orienteering race 45:00 [5]

S6D day 1 at Lossie. First half of course very easy and attacked it hard. Had a couple of wobbles through running too hard. Vaguer bits were trickier but held it together well until the second last control in the green. Had been warned about it but still managed to blow the control missing 3'+. bit frustrating then to come in 5" down on JP. Pretty happy with my fitness though.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Chucking down when I went to the start so had to run around to keep warm.

Running hills 40:00 [5]

4 x climbs of the Fungle up to the seat: 9:34, 37, 59, 10:17. Jog back between, to cycle over 17'
Second one didn't feel much different to first. Third felt tough from the start and the last was a simple "mind over matter" to keep running. ~100m of climb in each rep over 1km. This is similar to the average gradient of the second half of the JF, so hopefully working the right muscles. I do wonder if I should be doing more "power walking" training though, as I can't see me keeping this kind of running going for ~3h. Last JF session until after the 6D.

Running 56:00 [3]

W/u from the bridge and a lap of Queen's Loch ~19'. Jog back between each rep and ~8' back to car at the end.
Tired.

Running 48:00 [3]

So this wasn't really in the plan for the day, but as J had decided to go along for the Cnoc Dubh handicap I thought I might as well get a few extra miles in. 9' w/u with J then headed straight up the main path to the top. Felt surprisingly ok and got up in ~23'. Had to wait ~20' for the runners, took some photos, then jogged back down.
Now in serious recovery mode for the 6D.

Orienteering 50:00 [4]

Scolty. Not very inspiring or technically challenging course but went ok. Felt some strength in the legs again, so hopefully it will help me through next week.

Orienteering 30:00 [3]

Had intended to take another day off running, but legs felt largely recovered from Sunday and fancied picking a few blaeberries, so a wee session in Glen Dye seemed like a good plan. Really enjoyed this one. Spiked all bar one "control" and felt like I could move ok in the terrain (quite nice underfoot in the N of the area now). Starting to look forward to the 6D now.
Blaeberries are good, but not so keen on the midges which drove me away eventually.

Orienteering 27:00 [2]

Stopped on the way home at Crathes for a short technical session. Legs were very tired and wasn't feeling very inspired, but hopefully every little counts.
