Mountain biking 1:15:00 [2]

Wildcat trails at Golspie. Blue route didn't look very interesting so we decided to be brave and try the red. Single track ascent was lovely - never too steep and nothing too tricky. Descent was a bit scarier, but only got off and walked a handful of tricky steps. Fun!

Walking 1:30:00 [2]

Walk to the Eas a Chual Aluinn waterfall with J and E - first half the reverse of "Leg74". This was a bigger outing than I anticipated and we were rather underprepared in the food department. At least we managed to clear the rucksacks of ageing emergency rations. Never visited this area of Assynt before - some very impressive cories, wee lochs and rocky terrain. Out for ~3 1/2h.
Also visited the "most northerly oak wood in Britain" at Loch a Mhuillin earlier - shame you can't get anywhere near it in practise. Need to get the O kit on to explore another time.

Mountain biking 1:15:00 [2]

Cloud down so decided against a hill today. Headed instead to the Sandwood Bay cp where we bumped into the Entwistle clan. Was 11:45 and a coffee later when we finally set off on the bikes. Only took 35' to the top of the hill down to the bay. Second half of track has been done up since we were last there. Got a flat tyre on the way back out from bumping over the drains, but a couple of pumps got us back to the car.

Running 55:00 [3]

Ran out the first half of "Leg 78" from the big relay to meet J, then back the same way. Didn't feel much brighter today than I did then, but no Ruth to chase this time. Good pace back with J.

Note

Stretching never happened this evening - instead a very sociable dinner with Marie and John, an unexpected holiday bonus!

Running 55:00 [3]

From Tarbet to Scourie by hill path. Only about 5km but rough, hilly, twisty, boggy etc. Feeling as good as could be expected and cloud came over, so a bit cooler than earlier. Nice.
Area would be perfectly usable for O

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Tired - this felt like hard work!

Note

3h wandering round Handa - but too much of a pooter to log as effort

Walking 2:00:00 [2]

Canisp with J and E. Cloud never quite lifted off the top until we were half way down - then a lovely sunny afternoon. Out for 4:15
Ptarmigan, dotterel and a few frogs.

Stretching 20:00 [1]

11 AM

Running intervals 30:00 [5]

Road intervals on the loop by the cottage off a 5' cycle. Uphill second half then jog back to starting point. 3:30, 29, 29, 28, 24, 23. Extra 1' recovery after the 3rd. Still a few residual niggles from the LG but good to feel like doing some quality again and it went ok.
Ice bath in the mouth of the burn after. Good.

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3]

Warm-up jog back from Laxford Bridge to cottage at the start. V short w/ d.
2 PM

Mountain biking 1:30:00 [3]

From Badnabay towards Scourie then R towards Tarbet. Loop round the headland, stopping at Tarbet for tea then back same way. Was looking for a bit of a pooter this afternoon but it wasn't really possible on these roads - some monstrously steep wee climbs. Really enjoyable and best use of a "Scotch mist" kind of day.
4 PM

Stretching 20:00 [1]

Stretching plus calf raises / roller etc. I like holidays - time to fit things like this in at leisure.

Kayaking 2:00:00 [2]

Sea kayaking from the Ridgeway centre in Loch Laxford. Good day for it, dry but not too hot. Out for 3.5h or so.
Fun!

Strength and conditioning 10:00 [1]

Still working on the calf and some glute stretches too.
