Bit of shadowing and control collecting at junior training.

2 x barrow loads of manure from the heaps to garden.
Nice to get out and start doing some work.

Orienteering 1:30:00 [2]

Control hanging at Dreipen Bog. Got a bit carried away with planning something a bit different for the TS in the S of the forest where we don't normally go, and as a result this took a while - just as well J was kindly helping with the rest. Lots more rock on the ground than the map and had a bit of fun hanging a few of the controls - wouldn't swear they're all in the right place, but no doubt will be told tomorrow ;-)
Should be fun.

Wanted to do some hills but wasn't sure if I'd be up for it, so went out to B'dreip so that I could at least think about Sunday's training if I didn't feel like more.... Headed S from BofB on the big track, then towards Little Kerloch. Managed my reps on the climb and then followed round the edge of the plantation below Little Kerloch. There was a lot of big icy snow slabs which were good running in places but unfortunately I had road slicks on and after a while I started freaking out when I realised how far I was liable to slide. So ended up mincing around trying to pick a route between heather clumps and having to re-route a few times. Felt a bit pathetic and would have been just fine in dobs, but hadn't really anticipated winter mountaineering conditions on this run! Failed to get back onto the track at its start by Melmannoch too (no map), giving myself another hairy descent below there.

11 x 1'+1' up the main climb onto Hare Hill. Mostly on snowy track, but quite well compacted so mostly ok running.

Orienteering race 51:00 [3]

DNC at Inchmarnoch. Flowed really well through most of this but blew it at 10, when I turned my map upside down and was trying to find 9 in the circle. Couldn't understand why my compass kept pointing the wrong way. Apart from that, was really hesitant into 1 after which I gave myself a talking too and tried a bit harder. Also wobbled into 11, circling right round the control site before finding it. Really enjoyed it. Reckon you could hold the whole DNC series at Inchmarnoch and still be having fun by the end.

Orienteering race 1:02:00 [3]

DNC at Glen Dye. Steady plod around. Made lots of small mistakes in the circle which must have mounted up to rather a lot in total, but enjoyed it all the same. Nice course on the most technical bits. Coughing a bit - hope that's me getting cleared out and not the start of worse to come.
