Orienteering race 1:39:00 [4]

Scolty brown course. Wasn't really up for this before the start and was expecting same old, same old. So hats off to Pete for planning a tough course with some great route choices, nice control pick in the technical bit and overall lots of variety. Really enjoyed it. Physically wasn't feeling too bad after yesterday's hills. Technically was mostly really smooth, but a couple of errors at 4 and 9.

Running hills 36:00 [5]

3 x sets of 6 x1' +1' with jog back between sets, from the Dess bridge to top of hill. First set seemed to take forever. Felt better and got further on second set. Then got at least as far / slightly further on 3rd set, but it felt really tough. Really pleased I delayed this til today and made a quality session out of it.

Long warm-up lap of the woods, jog back between sets and warm down back by the track from the top of the hill.

Round the woods. Had planned to do a hill session but still really tired from Wed, so decided to delay until tomorrow. Want to give achilles a chance to settle too.

Orienteering race 1:08:00 [4]

DNC at Forvie. Wild wild night and a serious outing on the dunes. Couldn't read any of the map detail even when I stood still with the wind and rain whipping across. Pretty happy just to get round and escape alive really. Most of the O went quite well - missed 1' at no 3 but then fairly smooth through to 15 where I binned 6' or so. Wasn't confident I was on the right bit of dunes and so didn't relocate well.
Good courses - well planned - but toughest of the tough on the night I reckon.

Note

Calfs were cramping up from half way round the night O. A combination of too much coffee, not enough proper fluid, cold, and running tense I guess. Been getting more frequent foot cramp again recently though, so need to do something about it.
Also achilles is niggling again - was sore after last night and even more so tonight.

Short loop round H'head. Paths still icy in places. Looking to try and get some quality in this week.

10 x 30"+30" to try and get the legs moving again.
