Note

X-country skiing across HRH front lawn with E and J for an hour or so. Managed to get E further with the bribe of watching the Gruffalo later, but at a snails pace. Was getting very cold hands.

Running 53:00 [3]

Head torch run round cow shit loop. Really enjoyable. Legs don't feel too bad after yesterday.

Running race 22:13 [5]

Banchory Fun run. Lovely day but very cold and icy. Route was lethal through the golf club and along the track back into the park. 3rd lady I think. Not a great time, but ok given the conditions.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Good warm-up. Planned to warm down on the yellow course with E at the Pudding Shaker but we had a refusal.

Strength and conditioning 40:00 [2]

4 barrow loads of gritting up the track. Knackered.

Running 23:00 [3]

Sadly no gliding round the forest - more of a squelch. Didn't feel too alive, so just did a short lap of the woods.

Stretching 15:00 [1]

L groin tweaky. X-country skiing me thinks ;-}

Strength and conditioning 2:00 [1]

Started feeling really queasy - too much rich food. Stopped before it got messy.

X-country skiing 45:00 [3]

At Cambus o' May. With E and J to begin with, then once E had had enough I did a quick lap of the woods. Snow conditions are great - shame there wasn't time to play a bit more.

X-country skiing 20:00 [3]

Had another mess around on the skis out the back of the house, but there's not quite enough snow here yet. More falling though, so maybe a Christmas morning outing?

Running 45:00 [3]

Everything getting wet and slushy now, so decided to head out onto the back roads. Down the track, behind the Mortons' to the Kinker track and Pitmurchie Rd. Pace run up the hill then a loop on tracks towards N Footie and back to half-way up the Pitmurchie Rd. Back by the same route. Took a while to get going, but enjoyed it - hadn't been over that way for ages.

Running tempo 20:00 [4]

13' of steady effort from the bottom of the Pitmurchie Rd to the high point. Then 6' of downhill effort on the way back down the road. Think the downhill was almost harder!

X-country skiing 30:00 [1]

Went up to Balmoral with E and J. A good bit more snow there and HRH golf course was in good condition. Managed to get E going and he was doing really well in between the occasional whines. He even managed to descend a short hill holding onto J without either falling over. Must have been out for an hour or so.

Running 1:40:00 [3]

Winter solstice Morven night run. Nice night - cold and crisp but no wind and a good cover of snow on the hill. Arrived to see an advance party setting off 15' ahead of the designated time. Down side of this was that I was left to play with the big boys - not part of my plan - and the ascent was rather less sociable than usual. Plus side was that the advance party did a fine job of trail blazing through some deep 0.5m soft drifts in places. Met the late DG as we dropped off the summit plateau, so turned round with J and went back to the top again for an extra 10' or so. Mist had cleared as we came down and the descent was brill ice-bug skiing fun.
Great night on the hill.

Stretching 10:00 [1]

2/3 of the usual set.
