Orienteering race 1:10:00 [5]

SOL at Forvie. Leg was niggling during warm-up and I really wasn't at all sure I should be going out, but strangely once I got going it seemed to settle down. Although it was physical running there was much less sideways twisting which seems to be the problem. Ibuprofen probably helped too. Took a poor route to 1 - had planned on going straight across the marsh until I realised there was a large pond in the middle, and then found myself detouring round the wrong side of it. Otherwise pretty clean except for a few hesitations in the circle, but keeping good map contact so knew that I was close. Feeling much more positive again.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]

Even got a bit of a warm-down, jogging out to help with stretcher carrying.

Orienteering race 1:19:00 [4]

SOL at Coull. Mostly steady run apart from miss at no 4 where I was too high in the green with no good attack point - careless. Somewhere around no 6 my leg started hurting again and was very distracting from then on. Slowed me down and stopped me from enjoying the course as much as I would otherwise - inevitably we seemed to be permanently contouring on the wrong side for it ;-{ Suspect I need a few days off to try and get rid of it, but will probably try and run tomorrow anyway.

Note
(injured)

Lower R inside leg tendonitis

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Did a good bit of calf stretching on top of the usual

Running 1:25:00 [3]

Run up Morven from Groddie by the diagonal track with Helen, Michael, Jean-Philippe and J. Overcast and chilly but didn't seem too bad at the bottom, but by half way up the wind was seriously arctic. Felt sorry for our French visitors coming straight from 30C in Bordeaux. Had planned to go off the far end and back round the side, but decided to bail out straight back down. Legs felt ok on the hill.

Note

Inside of lower R leg (tendon?) felt sore on the descent of Morven and is still quite sore several hours later. Have iced twice.

Note
(rest day)

Heavy weekend planned, so decided another rest day wouldn't go amiss.

Running intervals 32:00 [5]

16 x 1' + 1' at Hazlehead. Felt surprisingly good again - most strange. Distances were better than other recent sessions. Think I'm getting a bit of speed back over short distances. Maybe time to move on to some slightly longer reps in the next week or two.

Running warm up/down 16:00 [2]

To and from H'head

Running 44:00 [3]

Hill of Fare to mast from E end on the way home. Felt surprisingly good and worked hard all the way up. 30' to top.
Feel great now ;-}

Note
(rest day)

Stonking head this morning - don't think I rehydrated very well yesterday. Fine otherwise.
