Orienteering race 47:00 [5]

SHI Relays at Crossmurrin. Not too happy to be running first leg - never been my favourite, particularly with a 9:40 start and it doesn't get any easier these days.... Didn't get enough warm-up. Went for a jog and came back to see the start of the men's relay, only to find they'd already started. Then they called us up and started us early too. Felt really crap, but kept with the pack over the first 4 controls. Then we all got stuck in some green s**t with an adjacent barbed wire fence. I got my foot stuck in the top strand, and by the time Kirsten had extracated me the front 5 or so were well across the next field. Struggled to keep up from then. Lost more time with a wobble on 7 then couldn't find the control at the end of the long leg to 11. Had read all the detail but somehow missed it round the side of the knoll. Ran off to another one before relocating to the same place and spotting it this time. Really frustrating.
So not too chuffed with my run, but it wasn't important anyway as we didn't need to do much to win overall. Helped in the end by the English men's mp too.
Sco.....tland!!

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Orienteering race 1:11:00 [5]

SHI Individual N Ireland at the Burren. Very hesitant to no 1 - long time since I've run in grot forest like this and don't often run on 1:15,000 these days. Pretty steady after that through the forest and round the open. Back into the forest at 11, saw the control although the map made little sense, then couldn't understand it at all to 12. Stopped by a huge hill which I couldn't find on the map, so dropped and faffed before relocating by runnning up the indistinct path. Still didn't make sense, but found the control. Lost 3+ mins. Caught JO on W20 after 13 and pushed each other on to the finish. Pretty happy to finish 6th.
Scotland 6 points clear of England after day 1.

Note

Had hoped to run today, but cold seems no better and feels like it's heading for my chest - not what I want.

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

Good session. Shame it's the last for 4 weeks.
