Part of Sondagsbana corridor training on Glen Davan and S end of Redburn. Kept it short as I'm in need of some recovery.

Collecting tapes from Dinnet Muir from (shh!) TG w/e - oops! Maybe shouldn't use the stuff with "Scottish Orienteering" plastered all over it next time.

Running 1:16:00 [3]

Feeling pretty bleurgh all day, but with J's encouragement got dropped with a headtorch in Aboyne late afternoon. Headed out through the Castle grounds to the TW and Coull by which time I was already feeling better. Out to the gate below Mortlich. Then after some indecision found myself climbing to the high path, and before I knew it found myself continuing on to the top. Back down to the fence and the path to Boddomend track, DW and home. Yet another fab sunset and really pleasant headtorch run.

Note

Walk am along the river to Drumnagask with J, E, P and M.

Running 51:00 [3]

Long w-u down the DW to the bottom of the steep hill past Kinker, then some reps, jog descent in Sluie to the wee back road, a couple more reps, then back from Kinker Castle. Followed some of the tracks along the back of Kinker I've never used before, coming out across a field to the top of the village on P'murchie Rd. Grovelled back up the DW.

Running intervals 34:00 [5]

3x3' on the DW along to Potties, finishing up the track into Sluie. Then 5 x 1' up the hill. 1 x 3' along the track, then another 2x3' from the back road along through Kinker estate. Last 3 all slightly uphill. All with 1' recovery. Not feeling fresh but hungry for a good tough session.

One-way run with E. Got dropped by J at Tullich church then ran back over to Cambus quarries, old drove road to N end of the muir and back round Loch Kinord to Dinnet. Gorgeous day and a lovely run with my wee boy. Can't believe I can enjoy runs like this with him already. Just a bit worried about how soon before he refuses to go with me because I'm too slow :-(
Scratchy throat seems to have disappeared without developing into anything :-)

Fun run fail. Throat still a bit scratchy and E full of cold / not interested. Went for a family walk in the snow up Craigendarroch instead, which was v pleasant.

W-u jog hanging controls for the Dess star peak challenge - lap round the bottom of the woods.

Dess star peak challenge. Did 6 of the 8 reps up to Santa's grottie at the top of the hill. More than I planned but felt ok once I got going. Bit of a sore throat yesterday but it doesn't seem to have come to anything... yet. Good fun.

Morven night run. Set off early with Ben's group as E was doing it for the first time and I didn't want him to feel pressured. As it turned out he set the pace the whole way up, having to stop and wait for the rest of us to re-group. Felt like hard work to me. Nice night and the wind wasn't as bad as I feared at the bottom. Too many up there to count or even recognise half of them. Suspect E is the youngest ever Morven winter solstice runner though?

DNC Crathes. Enjoyed this tonight. A bit scrappy in the circle once or twice and tried to head to no 11 instead of 2, but mostly pretty happy with how it went. Running felt good - a lunchtime trot round the woods seems to work for me.

Decent w-u to start of intervals. Short jog back at end.

5x4'+2' on railway at Dinnet. 2 out and 3 back. A real slog again, feeling sluggish the whole session and distances not great. Endorphins kicked in after though.

Maroc Sondagsbana on Pannanich and Inchmarnoch. Hanging back early on to make sure we didn't lose anyone, but still a bit of a slog up through Pann. Climb rewarded by a gorgeous run down the Inchamrnoch ridge. Did the extra wee loop to the east with E, then a pleasant run back along the slopes to start point. Managed to avoid added excitement at the fence crossings, unlike several others. Really nice to be able to share a run like this with E, just need to get J going again now :-)

First decent night's sleep all week and feeling a bit more alive again. Lovely run with RC from his house through Potarch woods, up the DW for a bit, then angled up through the plantation onto Tom's Cairn. Bit of a grey day, but some atmospheric clouds and light up on top. Great run and good chat.

From Victory hall out to end of village to start intervals, then back from finish.

3x4'+2'. Feeling really washed out and was tempted just to go for a jog, but decided to start interval session and see how it felt. It didn't feel great, so just ran one out towards the GS then 2 back towards the village. At least I can feel I've done something.

Cnoc Dubh night race. Very close to woosing on this. Stomach felt a bit iffy earlier in the day, but decided I was just looking for excuses and gave myself a talking to. Glad I did. The race was tough. I felt heavy and wasn't where I wanted to be, but it was good to do it and it was a great night. Another big fat tick.

3 x sets of 5x1'+1' on the hill up from DW bridge, with jog back part way each minute and back to bottom between sets. Good one to grind out. Had to force myself to start the 3rd set, but it was ok in the end.

Running warm up/down 37:00 [2]

Good long w-u loop round the woods first (~22'), 5' jog back between 2 sets, then short w-d at the end. Feeling fresher after a couple of easy days.

Slow plod from home up Mortlich. Couldn't face usual climb so decided to trial a route up from the east. A bit brackeny low down but some animal tracks higher up. Tired. Good to meet DS out doing intervals again on the railway.
