Walking 6:15:00 [3] 24.5 km (15:18 / km) +1900m 11:02 / km

TMB day 1 Les Houches to Tre Le Champ. Off at 7:45 and straight up the slopes of Le Brevet from the start. Felt good to get going but tried not to race off too fast / some sensible pacing required. Trekking poles out from the start and firm friends within no time. Bit of cloud obscuring much of MB but good temp for walking. Reached the first refuge at Bel Lachat well before I expected too. Onto the start of the ridge here and able to do a bit of jogging on smoother sections. Top of the high point of the day (2500m) on Le Brevent by 10:15. Then followed a bit of faffing where I misread the paths, but dropped OK towards Planpraz before more faffing around the ski building site. Nice path contouring to Le Flegere where I was able to jog quite a bit more. Coke and lunch before the next climb back up to Tete aux Vents. Then came the bit I was dreading - a massively steep descent with ladder sections down towards Tre Le Champ. I took my time and it wasn't as bad as I feared although impressive all the same.
Down at the refuge for 2:30 with plenty of time for an ice bath in the stream, more refuelling and chill out before dinner. Good day. No particular aches or pains to speak of.

Great turn-out of ~50 at training this morning, despite most of the older juniors over at Pitlochry for WS selection (Go AA :-) The future of Maroc is looking good.
However, with only 3 coaches the session left me feeling pretty drained for most of the afternoon. Went for a late afternoon jog with J down to the river and along the bank and felt much better for it.

Glen Dye brown. Really not up for this at all so quite surprised to find that I felt ok running in the terrain. Missed no 9 (despite having gone past it on the way to 8) but otherwise pretty clean. Think I slowed a bit from here on, but generally happy with a steady run out and enjoyed it much more than anticipated.

Not much of a w-u, jogging to the start. Ambled my way back from the finish with numerous blaeberry stops. Enjoyed a few out on the course too.

Reccying day 1 of the RutH. Looked at the morning 11 miles from the car then got dropped at the lunch spot at Kirkton of Glenisla to run the second half over to Glen Doll (13miles and 800m climb). Pretty tedious start with 1 1/2 h of forest track through plantation. Then gets a bit more interesting when it crosses over to Kilbo and climbs up to the col between Dreish and Mayar before dropping to Glen Doll.
Bit of a grey day but a decent run. Kestrel, hare and red deer from the Kilbo path. The full day is going to be a bit of a beast.

From Bridge of Feugh to Strachan, up past Knockburn then return by Tilquhillie. Nice route, but not really in the mood. That top road's got a nice surface and could be interesting for r-s'ing though...

Made a spontaneous decision to join J on a blast along the DW to get me away from other frustrations. Turned into a nice evening and I enjoyed this much more than this morning. Felt better about the day's effort too.

Meanderings from Keiloch up onto Meall Gorm. Another amazing day. Lots of camera stops and generally being chilled out. Testing out use of walking poles too. Out by the S of Craig Leek then back round from the NW.

Family parkrun fail this morning.
Alternative was an unstructured long hill session at Dess with J. Decent w-u the long way to DAP. Downhill jogs between efforts. Shuffle back down as w-d.
Felt rubbish on the w-u, but it was ok once I got going. Generally been feeling tired and unmotivated this week. Not sure why. Somewhat better for having done a decent session.

Lacking motivation and low on energy. Hoped an easy run might help, so headed out along the r/w with J. Lap of Aboyne Loch and home the same way. Picked up a bit, but still a very sluggish pace.

Had planned a day out over to Creag Meagaidh with E. The gods gave me lots of hints that it wasn't to be, but decided to ignore them... upshot was that we didn't set off from the cp until 12:45, but at least the days are still long. Headed first up onto Carn Liath, finding a great patch of fruiting cloudberry quite high up. Then continued to Stob Poite Coire Ardair before dropping to the Window and climbing up onto Creag Meagaidh itself. Lots of brightness and stayed dry until we hit the last summit when the rain came in and the cloud dropped. Pretty unpleasant for the next half hour as we headed down via Sron a Choire and glad of full waterproofs, hat and gloves. The rain eased later, but it was still a long plod back. Out for 5 1/2 h.
3 new Munros bagged for me as well as E.

8x2'+1'. First one felt just awful, but they got better after that. Distances better than expected for first interval session in a while. Legs tired by the last two. E for company on the bike - probably as well he wasn't duffing me up on foot.

Clear blue skies on Skye - a day to make the most of. Walk up Bla Bheinn with J and E. Great 360 views from the top over the ridge, out to Rhum and back to the mainland, just clagging in as we got back to the car. Out for 4h or so. Legs feeling pretty good, at least for this.
